bdithug
i tried this, and my tv said it was displaying it in 1080p but it looks exactly the same as 720p, so i think thats why it goes to 720p by default. i dont think the 1080p is working thats why it loads 720p even if you have 720p, 1080i & 1080p checked. kingofnexus
The back of the box says: HD 720p • 1080i • 1080p I am confused as to why it isn't displaying at 1080p. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/340336-1080p/?do=findComment&comment=1058016090 Share on other sites
Worfthedog
If you do as the earlier poster said and uncheck the options for 720p and 1080i on your PS3 and then run the game again your TV will show that is is running the game in 1080p. For some reason when all the options are available to the PS3 the game seems to default to 720p. You should then be able to see a big difference then between 720p and 1080p. I played the whole of my first day thinking it was 1080p when it was 720p and thought the graphics were terrible. Now they are lovely gory 1080p! Paul. Wonda Boy
I too have this problem, well more of a pain in the arse!!! I have a Pioneer 44" Plasma and it can run at 1125i MAX....but runs GTA IV at the default 720. If you have a HDMI cable installed and set the display setting in the PS3 menu to AUTO scan it sets all RES'S up. Go to custom and just select unselect the 720 res and it will run.....HOWEVER when you stick in a game that only runs at 720 it will now default to 620!!!!!!! and look sh*t....... paulbeattie87
It runs at 720p on my PS3, see user going on about unticking boxes but the XMB is quite confusing. GT5 runs in 1080p along with the XMB. Got GTA running on my 360 in 1080p no problems. Popped the disk in and away. Not sure what it wont go higher than 720p on PS3, I'm not the only one with this problem. wreckdsoul
You have to force it to run at 1080p for the ps3. This games looks awesome, especially when you adjust the screen settings such as brightness, contrast, and saturation from the in game options. Singey
The game is designed to run at 720p hence why all the trailers were in 720p. 720p is its native resolution. However by going to display settings, you can change the output but you have to click manual instead of auto, and uncheck the 720 and 1080i options, forcing the game to upscale to 1080p. It wont be true 1080p, but if you have a big enough tv, you'll notice a difference. This is why it has 1080p on the box, it upscales the 720p image. Its the same for Call Of Duty 4. If you do the same to a game which only supports 720p, the resolution will drop to 576p, and that my friends, is sh*t.
