charvel88 Posted May 3, 2008 Share Posted May 3, 2008 last night the game froze after an onlinbe multiplayer match and i turned off the system from the back switch and went to bed. i have just tried loading the game and it gets to the point where it loads the latest mission you are on and then it gets stuck. the mission is "waste not want knots" and it has stopped playing music but the game hasnt frozen because the white 'reflection' is still passing over the mission title in the bottom right of the screen. does anyone know what i should do? has thbis happened to anyone else? i have another Playstation account but i dont want to have to start the game over because im about a third of the way in already. CCW.40 Posted May 3, 2008 Share Posted May 3, 2008 This also happened to me. I turned everything off and kept retrying and it worked on the 3rd time. Not sure what the deal was, but as soon as it loaded i resaved and haven't had any trouble since! charvel88 Posted May 3, 2008 Author Share Posted May 3, 2008 (edited) now when i press PS button and select quit game it turns the system off then it beeps and turns on agen on its own. i copied the save game data to my USB stick then to my 2nd account then loaded n it worked first time, i then quit game and tried again on the same account and the problem persists. this isnt very fun... kayzon Posted May 3, 2008 Share Posted May 3, 2008 I played the game for about 3 hours just me and my friend causing anarchy and going through the story line with absolutely no problem what so ever, no freezes, no glitches, nothing. It was beautiful. We decided to check out the online games you can play and played a few of them with no big deal for about 2 hours, sometimes it would disconnect but no big deal we would try again and it would work. I exited multi-player and turned the game off and then the system and we went and did something else for awhile. Well later that night we started the game up no problems, played in the story line a little bit and went online and played for like 5 hours straight zero problems. I exit, shut off the system and the next morning I get on the game and go to multi-player start a game and it freezes up like 10 mins into the game, sound and everything locked and I was forced to shut off the PlayStation manually. I turned it back on and I started up GTA again, this time the game would be stuck in the loading screen and when I used the controller to exit game it would turn the system totally off and then come back on, I did this cycle a couple times. I deleted the last 2 saved files on my PlayStation from GTA and removed the game data and then reinstalled the game data. After that the game started up and actually loaded, I figured cool all is done and over. So I get back online and I play for about 10-15 mins and it freezes up out of no where again. Shut it off manually turned it back on, started game again and stuck at loading screen. I turned it off took out the game put in COD4 and said F-IT I don't want to break my ps3 if it already isn't. COD4 worked fine, played it for awhile, I remember seeing some people say all there games freeze now after this happening with GTA. I am very disappointed. For now this seems to work, disable your internet connection and the media network under network settings and it should fix the issue until they fix it themselves. just no online play.
