LemKo Posted May 2, 2008 Share Posted May 2, 2008 Hi all, I'd like to show my way of thinking to all GTA "fans" in here who are disapointed by this game. You says this GTA is not fun because there is no parachute or car customization... GTA III had been the best of the series without this stuff, my point is that a lot of people say they are true GTA "fans" because they want GTA to be like the true life, they are here for pointless stuff and not action but making a family and educate a dog... Phone, internet, Tv,... they are fun stuff to distract but to me the real innovation of GTA is what made GTA III revolutionnary, its gameplay. Just do a police chase with 4 stars and see what you get, cover, blindfiring, euphoria that makes peds and police do amazing things, when I am with friends we do chases and here the chases are 1000x times better than before, cops grab your car door while you drive and then you notice that you have no more tires that's just exellent, make it so f*cking fun! But for the disapointed GTA fans they think it's not fun because Niko can't put clown dress and dance macarena in the middle of Time Square... how old are these fans ? 8-12 ? Go back to Crash Bandicot guys... And the multiplayer! Funniest thing of this game, the multiplayer is just amazing. I usually hate playing on Xbox Live with Rainbow Six or Test Drive Unlimited but with GTA I have so much fun, I tryied it and when I check the clock I've been playing it for 5 hours... Now about the point you don't like... Lack of weapons => You're right, not enough, I'm a big fan of weapons and I would have liked to see an AUG or a Dragunov but the weapons are quite ok because they are 10x better than before. The Driving => Personnaly I like it, it's like in real life and you just have to brake and turn, plus they looked so real with the physics damn! And you add to this peds that draw portrait in the street, worker in the docks, cops running after a guy that steal a bank card,... Now give me good point that makes this GTA real disapointing, I'll hear you but please, no "DAAAMN NO POINTLESS FUNNY HAT"... After 4,5 hours of playing, I felt a little disapointed, but now I unlocked Algonquin and that I'm able to use the commands correctly I think that this GTA is by far the best of the series and that it kicks ass and well deserve a 10/10. teetdogs Posted May 2, 2008 Share Posted May 2, 2008 I just wanted to throw in that I completly agree with every thing you said, this is the best game I have played EVER. for those that are pissing and moaning about no parachutes, get over it yes parachutes were cool in SA I had many hours of fun base jumping from buildings. But this iteration of GTA is more true to life and more of a gritty interpretation of real life, that why there are no planes, no car customizations ( I dont think war hardend revenge seeking imigrants are really into 22' rims with sound systems and spoilers), this is GTA back to its roots but done so much better than ever before. And I'm not just going to say in a volatile tone, "Go play SA then, you ten year old!!!" I'm just saying, it does still exist. It's not like R* made you turn in your copy of SA in exchange for a copy of IV. You want parachutes in a GTA? They're there. If the argument is, "I want all the stuff in SA but with better graphics and such," then get SA for the PC if you can. We know that exists, unlike IV. Plus (while I agree that it does kind of suck to cut back features) if IV did have all the same stuff, it would be too similar. It'd be like San Andreas 2. R* forces you to play more realistically and focus on the story, because there's less to distract you. (In my personal opinion, San Andreas needed all that stuff to do and huge map to compensate for the weak story and dumb characters.) The thing is, using GTA 3 for your argument is terrible, because this is GTA IV. It shouldn't HAVE to revert BACK to GTA 3 in terms of what it has to offer in gameplay. As noted before, they fixed and added a lot of stuff, and broke and changed a lot of stuff. Like button cheats. Like as fun as cop chases were before, now you can't jack a tank and just cause as much unrealistic (yes I said it) mayhem as possible. Nobody's saying the game sucks, from what I've heard. Nobody's saying the game isn't worth it. Take some criticism for goodness' sake without getting all defensive. Many people are having problems with this game wether its not working on their tv or its freezing - this game is not perfect if it was we wouldnt be having this conversation everyone would love the game but a) its probably impossible for everyone to love one game as we are all different and b) this game is defenitley not perfect. Leaving out the parachutes, planes, buyable properties, some weapons, and character customization was a mistake. but the game does make up for its weaknesses in other areas. Agreed. So please people stop calling people who miss customization kids and/or sim lovers. Why it is appealing is because it adds a touch of individuality, that's all. If one is to categorize, those who love the realism element in gta 4 are the real sim lovers- simulation of reality. And as a reply to who started the topic, yes gta 4 is a great game with respect to what we really enjoyed in gta 3. It refines the core of gta to another level that is both real and fun. But gta has evolved from gta 3 to VC and SA to become more than just that, more than just shooting and committing all sorts of crimes and getting chased by cops. And thus, I think it's reasonable that some people have expectations beyond just that- not that they disregard the improved elements, just that they expect other things as well based on what we had and enjoyed before. Someone posted that ppl should stop complaining and realize that gta 4 is not a sequel to gta 3 and VC/SA. But well, imo that's just not relevant. It's not a sequel but it's still GTA, and since the missing elements did appear in previous GTAs, the expectations and complains, I'd say, are reasonable, and thus should be respected. What kinda game R* wanna make is one question, what players wanna see in a GTA game is another. Swiechu Posted May 3, 2008 Share Posted May 3, 2008 Well, sure, it ain't got all the pointless SA things, as well as the SA's level of customisation, parachutes, etc. But it got Euphoria, which is just unbeliavably good, blood splatters (shoot a guy in front of a car, few holes and blood will be on the car's hood, which is especially great when it applies to a random traffic car), awesome driving physics, great storyline and main character, great graphics, no load times between buildings, etc. So please don't make topics like "R*, you f*cked up", like couple of them on this forum. I agree R* didn't fu*k up, and that the topic title was way too dramatic and exaggerated- but if you read his post you can see he didn't really mean that. And I agree it's a leap from past GTAs too, but just that the improvements, i.e. those you mentioned, seem to be only confined to graphical and physical details, plus the storyline.
