Sound cuts out only when playing GTA IV

So i went and got GTA IV on the 28th for my xbox 360 and brought it home and began playing. After a while the background music became really muffled, and eventually all of the sound cut out. I put in a couple of my other games (COD 4, Halo 3, FIFA 08) and they all worked perfectly, but when i started playing GTA again, the sound would be there at the beginning, but would cut out again. I took the game back thinking it was faulty and got another one. When i played the new one, the same thing happened. So i think it's my Xbox.... but all of my other games play without any problem whatsoever. Help cuz i don't want to play it with no sound!!!
