i was just wandering if you can choose the way your online character looks? if so how?

Bring up your mobile phone, multiplayer, then go to player model, or press B while in the lobby, i believe.

Yeah and it looks like you get more choice per customization option everytime you level up as well, so different hats, glasses, heads, etc.
