xer0er
PS3 cannot be connected via VGA. Only HDMI will work - and for that, you will need a HDMI->DVI adaptor/cable. VGA isn't a digital signal, whereas both HDMI and DVI are. Unless the monitor was HDCP compatible, it wouldn't output the best resolution, anyway. I don't see any DVI on that list.. Didn't you mention it only has a VGA socket? To be completely sure if it will accept a PS3 at all - just check the back of it. If there is only a connector for a VGA cable to plug in, you won't be able to connect your PS3 to it - at all. I'm 99% on that, because I wanted a VGA cable for my PS3 to use the same monitor like I do for my 360 - I read everywhere that I could only get a HDMI->DVI. As far as I know, HDMI cannot be converted to a analogue signal (VGA), only to other digital signals such as DVI. Sorry, but this would mean that you cannot run your PS3 via your monitor. As far as I know there is only the official MS VGA cable but that is perfectly fine and will give you the same level of High Definition. For sound the cable comes with the red and white stereo cables that can be connected to a dongle which converts them to a PC sound input cable which you cannot to your PC directly or your speakers. HDCP has nothing to do with outputting at the best resolution. HDCP is for decoding copy-protected HD media, such as movies. A monitor that is not HDCP compatible just means that it won't be able to decode HDCP protected movies, everything else will be fine. Furthermore, you can buy HDMI to VGA adapters for the PS3, such as the "HD Fury", but it is quite expensive. About 70 GBP or 140 USD. Or you can hack it together yourself with a VGA transcoder, which cost about 50 USD.
