Ps3 wont read discs? Here is a tip

Recommended Posts

This has happened to me three times. I played gta IV, it frooze every 10 min, in the end it wouldn't read discs. I left it off (Power down, turn off the power switch and remove the power cord), leave it off for a few min (10 min give or take), then boot it up.

it should be able to read the disc now. This has worked for me when it happened, give it a try and let me know if it worked, or if im blowing smoke out my ass.

This does work....GTA4 will not kill your bluray drive...you just need to let your PS3 sit for at least 15 mins....

If you get a lockup...hold the touch sensitive power button till you hear the 3 beeps...it will power down the harddrive before it turns off the system...then turn it off on the back after you see the red light....if you do this you will never screw up your PS3...some people are turning off the PS3 on the back while the harddrive and bluray drive are still running...this will screw up your PS3....also there is no way GTA4 will overheat your PS3.....so do not worry about that.

Rockstar where is our patch?

Doesn´t work for me. My 60gig Ps3 has problems reading any disc since it froze while loading the game, now it won´t even read CDs. I even booted up Linux and tryed accessing a DVD, but nothing(deinstalling GTA IV and removing the saves didn´t help either). I fear my BD is dead, and my warranty ended on March 23rd. Damn, anyone knows something I canl try?

Why switch it off at the back after holding the power touch sensitive button ?, why don't you just press the power touch sensitive button again so that your PS3 comes back on, it's faster. Edited by PurplePerson07

That´s the hard thing, my copy of GTA ran PERFECT, no freezes, nothing. Everything was fine.

And then, when I turned it on this morning, it froze before loading up, and since then the BluRay-Drive doesn´t even make a sound.

GTA is just to good, so something had to happen apperantly.
