spawnsta
Hi, Before I start my investigation into some of the issues being experienced I want to make it clear this is not me having a moan or complaining about things. This is my efforts to gather all the issues I'm finding in to one place so others can reply on whether to confirm/deny they are having the same issues. The post will be updated continually so keep checking back.... My Setup: Toshiba 42X3030D 1080p HD TV. 1 x HDMI Cable from TV to PS3. 40GB PS3 Purchased just over a month ago. 1 x Copy of GTA IV. Issue 1: Getting in to the game I was disappointed at the lack of player and world detail. To start off with I'm running in 1080p on my PS3 and I can't get the Exact Scan view (On the Toshiba panel I have the Exact Scan is basically 1:1 mapping 24mhz 1080p) ....what's going on here? This tells me that I'm not receiving a 1080p signal straight away. The box states 1080p. Some of you have said this game is max 720p, from what I can see it's not and it is indeed 1080p. (Someone correct me with evidence if I'm wrong?) GT5 Prologue owners look at the reverse of your box it shows you all the supported resolutions and it's runs in 1080p HD, same as the GTA IV box so is that not another suggestion it's 1080p? (Why would they label it something its not?) The graphics are very blurry, the opening scene it was so dark under the bridge I couldn't see where I was going. I had to adjust my brightness/backlight settings which is fine once done! I'm yet to see one bit of sharp crisp detailed world I've been seeing in the screenshots and this was running in all game modes (720p/1080i/1080p etc). I adjust my PS3 settings from all modes to restricted 1080p, now I'm getting Exact Scan mode on my TV which means I'm picking up the signal correctly. The graphics aren't much better, just a little lighter on the eyes and a little less blurry. No HD from what I can see......even in 720p mode (Yes I tried forcing it in to 720p and still not one single straight detailed texture) Investigations Results: Got a new HDMI cable on order in case of faulty hardware so will report back before I pass judgment. Issue 2: Putting the graphical problems aside it hasn't deterred me from playing the game (which is fantastic and too bloody addictive). I'm about 5 hours in (single player) and I've started to get the freezing everyone's talking about which I haven't had until now, so far I've done a few of the missions and got up to Brucie until the issues started. It does go away after a bit so I ignore this. Investigations Results: Looking through other game websites I'm not alone with this issue so will assume a patch is in progress? Issue 3: About 15 minutes after locking up the game has now crashed. Forced me to reboot my PS3. Investigations Results: I have just deleted the Game File and reinstalled. About to play again so will report back with my findings. Issue 4: After reinstalling GTA IV, each time I quit the game my PS3 now reboots!! Is anyone else getting the same issues as me with the similar/identical setup? spawnsta
Issue 3 is resolved by deleting the game files for GTA IV and reinstalling the game. After 6 hours of play no further freezing/crashing experienced. spawnsta
The photos released above are all in a forced 1080p mode, anything below this is awful Am I right in thinking I'm supposed to be seeing HD scenes and world detail? Cause it's not..... Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/337830-ps3-lock-up-freezing-and-blurry-vision/?do=findComment&comment=1057992163 Share on other sites
