lostcause1087
ok so, i know how to fix this. first, go out and buy a hammer. then use it to smash your ps3's guts out, and finally, go out and buy an xbox 360. that should take care of your problem i stopped buying sony products after my second ps2 disc read error. best decision i ever made. Phillyfanboy
Disaster! Panic! One of the biggest releases of the year and people are having problems? That almost never happens. Sometimes. Reports are coming in of Grand Theft Auto IV freezing during, and just after, the opening cutscene. Weirdly, anecdotal evidence is revealing that the issue seems to be exclusive to the 60GB version of the PS3. How frustrating! Don't worry, there's a fix. Rockstar has stated that simply deleting your game data and then reinstalling will fix the issue. So if you're being plagued this particular bug then give that a go and see what happens. If it works, let us know. If it doesn't, then let us know that too. If you can keep the tears back long enough to type out a comment, that is. -PS3 Fanboy-

Phillyfanboy
Lee Cascio said... I spoke to Rockstar support and they did NOT issue a fix to delete your game data and re-install. The tech support person claimed that in fact would NOT resolve the issue. The problem exists with other PS3 models, including 20 and 80Gb model, further it is a problem with the 360 as well. I have the problem with my 60Gb PS3 but have a friend who had the same exact problem on his brand new 360. In both cases the music would keep playing, the controller would become non-functional (requiring a hard boot of the system). On the PS3 the graphics freeze, on the 360, the graphics may go blank. Abu Musaab
Is your PS3 a 60gb one? I heard on the televisions that for people with freezing issues on the 60GB ps3, all they should have to do is a reinstall and it should work fine. (that is a response from R* that played on g4tv). agent17
I've had no problem. -80GB system This only seems to affect the 20 and 60GB systems, I wonder who Rockstar missed a problem like that!

boogernut
mine froze once, and i haven't had any problems since (knock on wood), on my PS3 just make sure that you remember to constantly save (sometimes even more than the autosave) so you will lose as little as possible when it freezes and you need to restart
