Frubidore Posted April 30, 2008 Share Posted April 30, 2008 One of the things I found kind of distracting with San Andreas was the need to exercise and eat. Like I hated when I was trying to do a mission or other task and found my muscle bar decreasing and thinking "oh great, gotta eat and build up again". Luckily, SA's girlfriend system wasn't all that big and definitely wasn't essential to the gameplay. I can only imagine how annoying it would get to maintain the relationship of 5 different women while also trying to buy all property, complete missions, collect items, win races, etc. Youch! And thats why I don't have a girlfriend IRL. Actually its because I'm a twat. How significant are friends and GF's in GTA4? But I don't view it as a bad thing at all, on the contrary. It gives me stuff to do besides missions and freeroam. And It is often hilarious. If you don't like it, you can ignore it completely. Toff Posted April 30, 2008 Share Posted April 30, 2008 Characters often ring you up (usually at bad times), so thats where the connection with Sims probably comes from. I wouldnt say they're important, and you can always just completely ignore them, but if you do spend some time with each character, it does benefit alot. Actually, I enjoy getting a call from people to go shoot pool or get drunk. And your friends don't get very pissed or mad if you can't make it. They just say that they'll hit you up later!!! Whenever I accidentally miss a phone call from my best friend, he kills someone I love. >_> But, no... not answering doesn't make someone betray you.
