hnesb
Rockstar is known for good music and sound, and GTA IV's voice work is nifty. You can listen to everyone in the game, but the volume of an enemy's or ally's voice is realistic, based on proximity. So if you hear an enemy's voice, he's probably right behind you and it's too late. You can call an enemy via cell phone and talk trash to them whether they're five feet away or a mile away. I read this is a multiplayer preview. I just wanted to know if anyone can confirm the ins and outs of voice chat during multiplayer. Can you only hear people standing near you, if so how close? can you ring people using the phone? or do you just hear everyone on your team, no matter where they are? If anyone can make this a little clearer it would help me a lot!
CRW
The host can choose whether or not it is. I once tried proximity with my friend in freeroam, but I could still hear him when I was on another island
GTAIVPWNS
Yeh anyone who is chatting through voice chat can be heard from anywhere, and yes you can dial people from the phone but it will only work if both you and the player your calling has a headset attached to the ps3.
