For everyone who have been saying the following:

1) The car physics are terrible

2) Police Chase is too easy

3) I walk funny!

4) No side missions

5) The city is boring

6) Cars are too slow

7) ...

Give the game some time to develop! What we have done in the past few months is to read excerpts from the middle of a good book! Now start from the beginning and enjoy the book in its entirety.

I guarantee you, once you get to the 2nd island, the following will happen:

1) You will have gotten used to the car physics

2) Police will be harder especially after certain missions

3) You will get used to the walking

4) You will make enough friends to have many side missions (that seem like main missions because its done so well)

5) The 2nd Island looks amazing and I am sure the 3rd is too (I haven't been there yet)

6) I walk into dealerships and drive the faster cars rite out of the store window smile.gif

7) ... you get the idea

Give the game some time, and I am sure you will enjoy it, its not going to be the same as GTA 3, VC, SA simply because you, the gamer, is no longer that 15,16 year old or whatever age you were, things have changed.

I've said this before in another thread. Rockstar have achieved exactly what they said, that this feels like GTA2 -> GTA3, that's exactly how I feel with GTA4, that its so different from GTA3, SA, VC that it makes it good!

I assume you mean Algonquin.

But isnt Bohan technically the second island? as it is locked at the begining.

i agree. at first, the driving dynamics were soooo weird. everytime i tried to e-brake slide, the car would just slide to a stop. but i think, like san andreas, niko has to build a driving skill because now i can slide cars left and right smile.gif and im not even up to the 2nd island yet. and the same goes for the hand-to-hand combat. it was WAAAYY too slow at first, used to the quick punches of the previous GTA's, but now niko can hit pretty quickly.

keep playing it, you'll get used to it. biggrin.gif

Police chase is too hard -> vehicles handle poorly...

Makes more sense to me! I keep fishtailing and sideswiping even after I brushed up on the controls. Who ever said the chases were easy can eat my shorts! icon13.gif

@ Kaphis...

It's true that you do get a bit used to the car controls after playing the game BUT it (and by it I mean car control) still gets hella annoying as and when you're being chased by cops... especially if you have a level 3 (or more) wanted level.

I think it's pretty fun, at least you side smash into things sometimes, which is awesome.

The only thing that's annoying sometimes is that the car is not steerable when you are braking, Cars are supposed to have ABS in the 21st Century.....

Bohan and Charge Islands are open, and I'm still confined there, but I have not gotten bored, but exploring can seem like it at times! Not much located on my trips monocle.gif

not really, I have quite a bit of fun rite now, I do 180s when I see a cop coming in front and I hide when I know they are looking for me. All I have to say about the chase is avoid the highways, if there is one path, they will anticipate it and spawn a cop car in front, you will never leave the circle that way

I totally agree cookie.gif

My cousin works at a Best Buy nearby and he's seen all these people return copies of IV and they all say that they played for an hour and didn't like it...

Very well said.I'm only on the first island but can't wait to get to the other islands.

People are moaning about the game after finishing just a few missions on the first island,Jesus Christ give the game a chance to actually get going!!!

I admit, Im one of those people who say the city is boring,

But I am willing to give the game a chance, the only concern for this is that so far all the missions have been.. well... crap, with an exception of two, 'Unlce Vlad' and 'The Master and the Molotov', but thats how far I've gone and Im sure it will pick up pretty soon with a bit more variety to the missions instead of kill a guy, find a guy chase him in a car, kill another guy etc

Or alternatively criticise it with honesty as and when you see fit and if your oppinions change later on then cheerfully stand corrected.

Avoiding the highways is not a good tactic, you need to run from point A (the middle of the search zone, to point B the outer edge in as fast a time as possible. Once you're there, the red and blue indicators on the map are stuck on whatever road they're on so I advise straight travel and using the beaches, anywhere with little access for them to follow, like the elevated train, in some instances (as with 3, it depends on the road below being in-line with the path you're on.

Just try and keep it from recentering on you colgate.gif

so...eventually... we'll be able to:

1: purchase property? a staple of gta games for some time now, and a very important aspect for many of us.

2: customize our vehicles? an awesome feature thats been removed it seems.

3: unlock more music/radio stations? please tell me this is so, because the music selection on gta4 is far worse than even gta3.

these are my biggest complaints about the game (aside from the current multiplayer fiasco but that'll get better in time i have no doubt, so no point bitching about that atm, folks got that covered i'd say)

the city reminds me alot of gta3 but like many have said im still in the early stages, just hoping at least #1 on me teeny list there changes as the game progresses.

its like they've regressed in so many ways with gta4. the new car dynamics are fun, but whats with the unnaturally spongey suspesion even the sports cars thus far (best two driven is the banshee &coqutte [corvette clone]). A-LOT of body roll is still an understatement. hoping the latern island cars have at least half-assed quality suspensions systems. not terribly realistic in many ways even though this is supposed to be a far more realistic driving system. and for the record, im no professional race car driver or anything remotely like it, but i am an avid autocrosser and have been so for several years and always have built my own cars. so im not some youngen fresh behind his first set o' wheels ether basicly.

anyhow, guess already said what im trying to say but to reiterate, they moved forward in so many ways. then moved backwards in so many others. mixxed emotions on the whole thing here. alotta good but unfortunately a fair ammount of bad as well.

/edit wanted to edit this as it sounds like im just "oh so displeased" with the game. this is not the case! i just firmly believe they could have done a better job wit these quasi-trivial issues, especially with the game being out half a year late. im enjoying the game thuroughly none the less though!
