MC Killah K9 Posted May 2, 2008 Share Posted May 2, 2008 jadenikole << is that your gamertag then coz if it is you will obvs be high on the leaderboards that rockstar keeps.. this shows the fastest time you have completed it in .. i had it 5 days before it came out.. playing on it a lot and still have only completed 70% .. so tbh .. i reckon you only did the main story... did you collect the flying rats, do the stunt jumps, I THINK NOT they are required to complete the game .. The game is a step in a newer direction for Rockstar whilst retaining some of the things we are used to. However it isn’t to everyone’s taste but this happens in computer games, sadly the creators cant please everyone. How come in every topic that bashes the game, there's always one guy who says the TC is entitled to his opinion, yet when someone disagrees with the TC, the other people side with the TC and say the TC's opinion should be respected. How come it's a problem when it's someone's opinion that the TC is a dumbass or a troll? Aren't they entitled to their opinion too? Or is that not allowed? Ryuranger Posted May 3, 2008 Share Posted May 3, 2008 (edited) I kinda was a bit dissapointed when they took out some of the stuff from San Andreas, right at the start i was thrown off from the changes they did ( Like the Driving, Running and Fighting ) but once you got used to it i got hooked on it, Im not really a big fan of the City though i was a big fan of the Open space and desert you had in San Andreas everything feels packed in and there really isn't that much space to move around in ontop of the new driving mechanics. Maybe I myself was expecting a next-gen San Andreas, but Its still a great game nonetheless, I really like what they've done with the Shooting Mechanics, the Phone and of course the Story to it. No you are full of sh*t, i have had it since last tuesday and have completed it almost 3 times, i have been playing it alot, i completed it in 31.32.16 hrs, and each 30.32.11hrs, so it is possible Sorry to jump in again, but it seems to me you really enjoyed it, or it has some redeemable qualities, since you played it so many times. yes i enjoyed it, but theres something missing from the game, maybe i was expecting too much, but why should i when they have always done very good gta s in the past, theres just something i cant put my finger on Well, it is pretty easy to understand why you are disappointed, you loved the customization of your character and cars, you loved the planes, there were all taken out, so ... it think this is why you don't enjoy it that much. R* made it clear they would move away from it and they kept their word, sadly for you, less of a pain for others (including me). Hm, but you enjoyed it, for a while ( a pretty great while, i might add), and that is great. Perhaps you can hope on the downloads and the like (although i don't know if you have a PS3 or 360). Sometimes, Mat, I wonder if you realize how much of a goddamn idiot you look sometimes. You're way too polite to the point where it seems your opinion of "harsh" is telling someone they're wrong without saying "I know where you're coming from" over and over again. How realistic to be in a metropolitan area yet have a desert separate you and the next city? Or take a plane from one part of town over, who cares, those were just easy fillers which required no more sophistication to the game, just added files. Yet all these guys complain they took it out, hey if you wanted to play basketball go buy a basketball game, not one called Grand Theft Auto, in which you can steal cars and murder people. To me it is the same style of game that originally started the series, the only game you could do any of that crap was SA, and it proved to be a stupid distraction, you want more game time then join MP which alone is better then the entire SA game, lol. Another thing people never realize is this is the first game to utilize a lot of these awesome features, and the other games to come will launch off of this platform, just as GTA III was totally different from the others, yet launched an entirely better series in VC and SA, just wait guys. What happened is people started fake rumors on the internet, and everyone believes what they read on the internet, and now everyone is like WTF, where is all that stuff. What you should do is appreciate every little detailed and actually play the game, listen to the story, which by the way holds up on its own, and should win an oscar for multimedia. The big, fillers as in SA that are in this game, radio is still the same, but the phone and internet options are great, little ways to improve crime life, yet expand the content that rockstar is famous for, inside jokes. Shooting feels the same for me, I don't auto target (everyone online does when allowed and that's a fact) but the euphoria engine alone could have been the only thing in the game and I would have had fun for hours. Having actual relationships, which can be controlled and manipulated from the phone is great. I mean for any real gangster the phone is essential, and this game has taken a large step by letting the player be proactive. I could go on for pages and pages, maybe if you opened your eyes when playing instead of saying oh this is not there, or it is missing this you will actually have fun and stop complaining. As soon as I turned it on, the realism was incredible, and my friend and I were laughing the whole time, from the first moment I tried to fight a bum and died, to the head on collision where I flew out the windshield. There is absolutely no end to the possibilities opened up by this first game in the next generation of gaming. Yea, it's a shame really when that happens. Take for example Unreal Tournament III. It was delayed because the port wasn't ready for the other console, and because it was taking some time to release it the other consoles because of compatibility, programming issues, etc. Hell, they even have to release the other consoles version months later. Only issue with that is that the "superior" 360 is the one that caused the hold up. You can never find other people to kill and its usually people running around in circles shooting that sh*tty ass pistol. I don't play a game just to see the ending, just like I don't watch just the end of movies or start books on the very last page. The real core progression to the climax of the story is where its at. Seeing as how this series has always been more about free roaming the virtual environment (thus stretching out the meat and potatoes climax as long as you want) I don't see how you can hate this game unless you hate all GTA titles ever released before. Personally I have never played a GTA title to do this B.S. rpg style gimickery or even to get to know the characters. I play to steal cars, kill cops, run people over, trying to be just plain ol' more badass than anyone else I play the game with or at least to show them some cool things they didn't know they could do before, and above all HAVE FUN! Thats what the game is all about. I have fun playing it. Thats all that matters to me. If you don't have fun you shouldn't be pouring your diarrhea down everyone's throat in an online forum or playing the game through three times. I don't think you played even one second of GTA. When Consoles will at least catch up with 5-years old PCs then we may talk about their game powers. But now... If yo ustick with consoles it obviously mean you will have to leave something out. We've all seen movies that were really great 'til the last 15 minutes, but then degenerate into a mediocre chase scene or a really weak twist ending. Or just think about any relationship you've had. For the record, I don't care about jadenikole's opinion. I'm enjoying one of the best videogames I've ever played, and I've probably played more than you, jadenikole, or 99% of people on this forum (looking forward to hearing the dick-waving replies to that one, please don't disappoint me). GTA IV is one of those precious milestones in the videogames industry. Despite it's flaws, it is going to inspire many other companies to raise the bar on everything they do. It will bring people into gaming who have never held a controller, and it will draw actors, writers, directors into the industry, when previously they had dismissed it as not capable of the degree of expression that other fields allow (and capable of making the kind of money they can take seriously). @ jadenikole: No, it's not by any means the perfect game, but why were you such a dumbass as to expect it to be? Nobody spends 80+ hours doing something they don't want to do unless somebody's waving a gun or a large wad of cash at them. Quit being one of those trolls who falls over themselves to be outside of the consensus opinion. It's just as easy, and just as stupid as doing the exact opposite. Joey.Leone Posted May 3, 2008 Share Posted May 3, 2008 Im not disapointed in the slightest, I didnt read any previews, or anything much about the game before it came out, only looked at a few screens and the trailers. Imo, this game is f*cking amazing. Ive only done 8 missions or so because im so taken back by everything about it, its so realistic and the enviornment is dazzling. Some of the SA features could have been good but I dont really give a sh*t, i hated the gym and the eating in SA, it was tedious and boring. Rockstar did a good thing in making GTA4 more realistic.
