Moonwalker2009
To answer them. I was wondering about a few things, and what other place to ask than here , right? 1- Is it my Xbox 360? Cause at times....(not nessecarily with alot going on onscreen) the framerate bogs down like HELL, and i haven't seen any of that in the Gametrailers.com videos. My 360's HDD is like 9GB free and yesterday i also cleared the cache(maintenance). 2-I've always loved the hand to hand combat in GTA....however..i'm alittle dissapointed in the combat system in GTA IV. it seems more simple...more basic, than San Andreas...there were lots more moves in SA....or do i get to learn more moves later on in the game? Now it's basically a few punches and a kick....it sucks i can't grab people like in SA and also VC stories and beat the crap outta them..... 3-Have any of you found any cool results in the police database yet? I haven't found any yet....i tried Jack Thompson...of course nothing...he could sue them over it probably...but i also tried it without a P...nothing. Nothing with Niko Bellic....anyone found something cool? 4- From the Game Informer GTA IV FAQ Is it possible to climb on a ladder? I didn’t see Niko climb a ladder, per se, but I did see him ascend a telephone pole to get a bird’s eye view of Liberty City. He didn’t climb up it like a gorilla, however. He simply pulled himself up on the series of rungs on the pole. This feat was actually quite impressive. You could clearly see his weight transfer from side to side as he moved up the pole. I've seen these poles already, but i wasn't able to climb it. Anyone succeeded in this? I saw several of them...those with the little steps on it and sh*t...but nothing 5-I been into the internet cafe and i saw several phone numbers there...from an car company...so i decided to call those numbers...hoping the car would spawn in front of me...but instead the phone number did nothing. I kinda expected you wouild get a car spawned or something...i bet those phonenumbers arn't there just for fun.....are they? Also.,,while watching TV in the game....i saw this comercial about what looked like an machete..also a phonenumber was given...so i called that...nothing though.... 6-How many buildings can you really enter? I am kinda missing this ....in SA you could get into this building, even with a motorbike, you would get out and be on the top of the building...you could drive off it or use a parachute...now in IV i saw the building that is similar to the empire state building..but i couldn't enter it at all...i went there with achopper and i saw people walking on top of it...i got out of the chopper and explored around a bit..and apart from a few ladders..there was no way to enter the building. However..i remember from screenshots and interviews with Rockstar that several missions take place on rooftops..so either Niko gets on them by chopper or by entrances i havent found yet...and parachutes. They are goner? 7-Is the chainsaw in the game? I remember from a GTA website that gave notice of this...they said you should watch the debut trailer and near the end where you see the boat...you can spot a spinning item..look closely and you see its the chainsaw...i haven't found it yet though....you? saintdave
I’ll give it a try. saintdave takes deep breath 1) I own the a PS3 and occasionally I have experienced framerate issues such as textures loading slow, buildings popping up in the distance. I have even witnessed vehicles and peds dissapear right in front of me. I try t bare in mind that the game has a lot going on at once and these issues whilst small are not enough to ruin the game so try to ignore them like I do. 2) I don’t believe you can learn additional moves. Your told how to disarm which is a new ability but some of the moves from SA and VCS (as you mention) are not present. 3) I didn’t. One of the first things I did when I got the game was to steal a cop car and check the database for previous GTA characters. I tried Vercetti, Tommy Vercetti, Leone and others with no results. 4) I’ve not tried the poles but other topics in this section of the forums claim you cant. Ladder climbing is possible aswell as other objects like fences, metal rails, etc. 5) I thought I read in a preview that every number in the game was real (in terms of in the game universe) and you could call it. It seems many numbers don’t work. That’s not to say they are all like that but it’s not at the level they said it would be. 6) A lot of the buildings like save/safe houses can be entered and have roof access as well as the clubs and diners. I’m not sure if the buildings in the busy metro area differ but there is a lot that you have to find for yourself so get exploring. 7) I’ve not seen it yet. There are 15 weapons in the game and I have used 7 and have yet to see it.
Moonwalker2009
Thanks man, MUCH apreciated. So you get to learn a disarm move? I guess i really have to start with some missions then....right"?
saintdave
Yeah it’s actually quite useful in sticky situations when you don’t have a weapon or cant use them. You will get shown how to do it in an early tutorial mission so pay attention!

daarong
I haven't had any framerate issues at all. I've done maybe more than 6 missions, and a lot of screwing around (no pun intended)... It seems like some people are having that issue, but most aren't... very strange. How old is your xbox?

Besides the occasional tree popping in and some texture loading when I'm going really fast, I have not experiened any framerate issues. 2- Hand to hand in previous games was terrible IMHO. This is the first game where it looks, feels, and responds realistically. The reason you can't learn new moves is because Niko, unlike CJ, is a well developed character and has a full backstory. CJ was underdeveloped and lacked history, so you could say, "Oh, well, some crappy dojo in a city teaches him new moves." and it was fine. Niko is a veteran and is already skilled in hand to hand combat- dojos couldn't teach him anything of use. Then you have the fact that this game was shooting for a more realistic feel, and many of the moves you see CJ using later on in the game wouldn't work very well. 3- I haven't looked in the database much, but I don't think there'll be any funnies in there. 4- I have climbed a ladder, you'll even be forced to fairly early on. 5- Hmm, well, I'm lame so I didn't try.XD

But what in the Xbox is causing this'? Although i must say after removing some stuff on the HDD and cache cleaning...it does run better, but still enough slowdowns. Well, they're marked on the paper map until you visit them in-game, and they appear on your game map. SouleRonin
I was wondering about a few things, and what other place to ask than here , right? 1- Is it my Xbox 360? Sadly, I believe it might be..sorry buddy. 2-Yes, There are the 3 attack moves...A, X, Y, and they all work in conjunction to create a decent replication of two star wars geeks fighting over a sealed original 1980 milleniun falcon with lightspeed sound effects.. Niko isn't exactly Bruce Lee, but then again I never saw Bruce Lee steal a police chopper, land it on a catwalk, and then empty 500 NATO rounds into a crowd of people...ROFL 3-Have any of you found any cool results in the police database yet? Yes... Keep going on story missions, and you'll eventually be forced to use the police computer..also, doing "Brucie's" missions will lead to a cop computer being used... 4- From the Game Informer GTA IV FAQ Is it possible to climb on a ladder? Yes...and you'll be doing so often... Haven't climbed a pole yet, haven't tried either. 5- All of the internet numbers work...dial them correctly though, and save before using any codes incase it messes up your game... No clue about the TV numbers though... 6-You can only enter 3 buildings in the entire game..."Just Kidding" I have no idea, but I have entered a bunch...most of the ones I entered had red doors... No clue if that means anything.. 7-Is the chainsaw in the game? No Clue... Soule Ronin

SouleRonin
When I say correctly, I mean as in "NOT MAKING MISTAKES WHEN ENTERING THE NUMBER" for example...lol. entering a "1" when a "5" is needed... Also, since I had to explain what "Correctly" means, I'll go a step further... There are many numbers on the [email protected] cafe sites you can enter to get results... If you enter a number "Correctly" and don't get any results, then there is a chance that # doesn't do anything, or at least not yet...maybe you need to complete certain objectives first... Next time, on "Teach the insanely retarded mundane definitions like the word "The", we'll cover wiping your own @ss, and floss...its not just for fishing anymore"

Moonwalker2009
So it could be my xbox since several people with the 360 version dont have the framerate problem so much....so that means...either get a new Xbox...or the PS3 version (i got a PS3 as well) or just let it be? What in the Xbox is causing it? I never knew consoles could cause this....weird man, weird.
saintdave
@ Goliver24 - The internet café is indicated with a @ logo on the radar/map. You can only see where they are in each area once it is unlocked. When paused and looking at the map you can bring up the legend/logo key so you know what they represent. @ sdda5000 - No not yet. I’ve not even found any pigeons yet but I’m looking into it.
