Plus a Russian "accent" sounds like most Eastern European accents, with slight variations and strains on syllables. Moscow is closer to Europe than to Asia and so is Russians main urban areas and industry. Russia is pretty much European although isn't apart of the European union just because their unsociable corrupt and don't give a sh*t about europe cozy the Americans want to build missile defense systems in eastern Europe and we are not opposing it. NEVERTHELESS RUSSIA IS NOT EASTERN EUROPEAN although it lays in Eastern Europe. Its just a category. Greece is in East Europe close to country's such as Macedonia ,Serbia etc but its not classed as Eastern European. hint : Russia competes in EURO 2008. MWC Posted June 5, 2008 Share Posted June 5, 2008 in many cutscenes niko speaks serbian and the subtitle is in gray simular for when Vlad, Mikhail, Dmitrij speak russian, or on the Dimitrij's leave a messege text on the phone, or when The United Libery Paper guy speaks to niko in their first cutscene, also niko talks about being in the war, as i remember there was no war in russia recently, and the traitor in nikos squad in the war is named darko which is a typical serbian name, which deffiniatly proves that he is serbian. spoilers heavy, the last one esspecialy Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The owner says "You Russians are clearing me out!" and Niko reply's "I'm not Russian" Thank you. I can't believe how many people think he is Russian, I clearly remember him saying he isn't, but i couldn't remember which cutscene. Although he is not necessarily Serbian he is definitely from Eastern Europe: "He's from that gray part of broken-down Eastern Europe, a war-torn area" -Sam Houser and I think it was the Bosnian war he fought in. Vlad did call him a serf not a Serb. How would he know his nationality just from looking at him is beyond me. He also calls him a peasant etc.. loads of times.
