Molotiv
not to be bitching, but I can hardly find anything on the official ps3 forums about freezing GTA IV's, just a handfull of complaints. Im beginning to smell a rat... Could it be that a few fanboys are makin this worse then it really is? Like creating fake topics about freezing 40 gig ps3s etc. Same counts for the xbox users offcourse. I cant find anything about this freezing issue for the ps3, only on this forum...weird You must not have eyes to have missed the main topic concerning it. It has well over 2000 posts by the way GTA4 freezing topic Unlike other boards, champ, at the official playstation boards they like to avoid multiple posts on the same topic and keep it all in one place. I know it's a very logical way of doing things and it may seem strange to you, but there it is. Looks like Rockstar is lookin into the problem, as I read those replies..dunno how much is true offcourse. I have the 40 gig version and had 2 freezes in the beginning, and none sofar.. Well see, it will be fixed with a patch I hope Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/336902-rockstar-could-have-prevented-all-of-this-trouble/?do=findComment&comment=1057993510 Share on other sites

Are some of them 360 fanboys stirring up the pot? Possibly, but clearly not the vast majority. Not sure why it's so hard to believe that Rockstar would mess up a launch... history has proven that they are more than capable of doing so. Alick
No problems here the game has worked with no problems since launch on my 40GB PS3. I'm happy I never decided to get the 60GB version now. JFLIPDAWG
Fanboy-ism is entirely unnecessary when it comes to the freezing of this game. What frightens me the most is lack of acknowledgement of this problem. It's unfortuante that Microsoft, Sony and Rockstar allow this rediculousness, but it is understandable. It's all about money. I fear no "patch" will come now that pockets have been sufficiently lined with our cash. All they had to do was have a demo or open beta and this would never have happened. BigNinaRoss
I have an old school 360 that I got when they first came out, and I had no problem with GTA 4 until the first time I had to travel to Bohan. I think the mission was "Final Destination"? Anyway, the game kept locking up everytime I got into Bohan! So I called support and they told me to got to the dashboard/system/hard drive and run the maintenance (XX, LB, RB, XX), and it hasn't locked up since. I hate to hear about all the troubles for everyone though, cause it's an awesome game!! Oh yeah, another thing is that I'm running a cheesy aftermarket NYKO intercooler on the back of my 360 and it totally runs better than without it! So I guess it's not cheesy LOL! What you lot can do is send your copy of IV back 'til they make a re-release or the aforementioned patch. Also, I find it odd that there was little damage control done, I mean, aren't those with freezes calling Rockstar's tech support? People like you are idiots, you criticise us for not ebing able to play a game we spent money on. You clearly don't know what its like having the game some people qued up for hours for, have freeze up on you every 5 minutes. There are reports of peoples £400 consoles breaking and all you can do is pretend its fine. At the end of the day if you buy a car and its faulty you have a right to send it back for repair and you lose trust evenually in the company. ITs the same thing here, at the end of the day they have to be providing us with our moneys worth. JFLIPDAWG
Coral_City- "Well, whaddaya gonna do? What you lot can do is send your copy of IV back 'til they make a re-release or the aforementioned patch. Also, I find it odd that there was little damage control done, I mean, aren't those with freezes calling Rockstar's tech support?" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My game was returned twice before 2 am on midnight release...freezing continued on 3rd copy. Sounds like Hardware, right?? No RROD. Call of duty 4 runs fine on live, and every other game. Sending back my Xbox in its neat little coffin tomorrow. When you don't know if it is the software or hardware what CAN you do? People have been told by Rockstar support to call tomorrow... I've cleared my cache, hardrive, tried EVERY TIP I've read and am definiteley bringing back this game a third time until my 360 comes back. As far as "finding it odd that there was little damage control done" I invite you to read the 12 steps for ps3 fixes (no rumble?! no autosave?!). REDICULOUS. I also invite you to find one internet article on a 360 comment by any official (microsoft, rockstar). Guess what? They don't exist. Like I said, LACK OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. Check out this "story" where tech support told one user "It's like the cure for cancer, people have been working on that for 40 years," ...thanks for the support guy. http://kotaku.com/5007464/rockstar-support...nute-or-in-days Oh wait...found an article claiming rockstar says freezing occurs on all 360's...they really narrowed the problem down there. Fanboyism and chatroom fakers have nothing to do this problem...It exists, and as the above link says, "Perhaps [the problem] is more, without Rockstar's direct input we have no way of knowing." THEGOVERNMENTCAN'TSTOPJAKE
As I stated, I've had absolutely no problems, and I feel disturbingly bad for the number of people who have. I have the occasional texture lagging, but only when I'm driving upwards of light-speed and I've been playing for six or seven hours straight - and even then it fixes itself within a second or two. I retract my initial statement; since then it's become completely obvious there's something really wrong. Honestly, though, and I do feel for you, but look at the date. Game's been officially out for what, two days now? Two days of people calling tech support - R*, Microsoft, and Sony haven't had enough time to figure out what the issue itself is, much less release any official acknowledgment about the situation itself yet. It may be easier to say this since I've got a working copy of the game, but honestly, just hang in there and rest assured R* is most likely already working to find out the problem. I personally believe it was some kind of production/shipping problem, and not the higher-ups faults'. If you listen to any of the main-men/women of R*, you can tell they're not the kind of people who would, as one user stated, just ship the game out with some sh*tty faults to earn their cut of the cash. Not to mention, none of the dozens of game-review companies stated any single problem after playing the game several times - once for two hours, I believe. If these problems were occurring when the game was still being finished, I'd have to say someone would have noticed. Just don't go blaming people in anger. It's pointless. :\ Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/336902-rockstar-could-have-prevented-all-of-this-trouble/?do=findComment&comment=1058003988 Share on other sites

It's pointless. :\ If it were a disc production problem, they'd know by now. The fact that they currently don't have the 1st clue why this is happening tells me that they didn't test this game extensively enough. Being that rockstar is so super secretive about its games they didn't want an open beta or a demo, and that is precisely the reason we're in the situation we're in now. period.
