THEGOVERNMENTCAN'TSTOPJAKE
Funny thing is, I've encountered no bugs thus-far. For the 360 gamers, most of the problems seem to arise when you try to rip R* off and use a leaked copy of their game, because BenQ is designed to reject illegal versions of games. Buy the game. If you did and it's still messing up, then I don't know what to tell you, 'cause I've been playing it for hours straight, even multiplayer, and haven't encountered a single problem whatsoever. Except I can't find any hookers. And I really want Niko to get it on. Oh well. And by trouble I mean the game doesn't work. On the PS3 and 360 side of things. And my original point is valid, had they had an open beta or a demo this problem would have been resolved before release... nice job rockstar! pkohler01
I dont believe that this is an example of them (R*) being inadequate. This doesnt seem to be the same sort of thing that plagues Bully: Scholarship Edition (which I totally and completely blame them for). The fact of the matter is that this game was tested and played through by many, many people. And the vast majority of people who are playing it now are not having problems. Additionally, this issue is still so new that we have no idea what it even is yet. For all we know, this could be some sort of malicious thing. On the other hand, it could have something to do with the manufacturing process. Most likely, it's just bad code, though. Anywho, I'm not ready to point the finger at them and hoot just yet. But believe me, if it seems justified to when all is said and done, I'll lead the charge! R* does need to expand its testing internally. I also believe that they need to have extensive beta but, that such beta should NOT be open/public. pkohler01
Interesting... I was also wondering if the people who started having problems before 1am 4/29/2008 were having problems because of the time of day. I can tell you that the business I work for has clusters of servers on both coasts, one set to EST while the other was set to PST. I was wondering if this could have something to do with people not in PST getting pegged as having illegit copies prior to 3am EST. Afterall, M$ stated that they would freeze up boxes that were seen to use it before the official launch. If this theory were to hold any weight, someone would need to confirm what happens to your xbox when under those circumstances. But this whole idea still doesnt explain the PS3. I dont own one and cant comment on it. Beren
Guys please, some people can't even install the game, others have freezes everywhere, there is not reason to spread lies....read the PSN forums, already a lot of systems stopped reading discs, because they keep trying to play a game that does not work. I am happy for the ones who have a perfect game really, but don't be selfish. Look 1400 posts on a single thread from people who wants to play but they can't: Link Rockstar please say something Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/336902-rockstar-could-have-prevented-all-of-this-trouble/?do=findComment&comment=1057985756 Share on other sites

Or you know that code for that particular purpose could have been programmed wrong and now causing the game to freeze randomly, think about it, the copies sent to reviewers and set up for demo-ing the game wouldn't have this code in it, it could have been rushed at last minute and programmed wrong... I dunno, there were a few ppl on my PSN friends list who got a hold of legit copies early for PS3 and their games didn't freeze. Fuzzknuckles
I've been playing since Tuesday, with sessions of 3-4 hours and haven't had a single freeze or crash. Playing on 360 premium with HD, through HDMI etc etc. Nothing wrong here. A guy a work with has had freezes and crashes. He's on an Arcade bundle and hasn't got a BenQ drive. We both have legit copies. It's really a shame that so many people are having trouble with this. Hopefully it's a 50/50 split between Xbox and PS3 users, which should calm the fanboy war a bit Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/336902-rockstar-could-have-prevented-all-of-this-trouble/?do=findComment&comment=1057990893 Share on other sites
fued10
I thought it was a hoax but then it happened to me today. I played it throughout yesterday and I did not have 1 issue, but today It crashed after finishing a mission. I have switched it off ever since and I don't plan on playing it until rockstar release a patch. For those saying it's a hoax I urge you not to be so ignorant as it is a real issue and rockstar have to deal with it. p.s I own a 60gig ps3, bought the game from play.com. DEV1L
well I agree R* should have done a beta or something, the amount of time we have had to wait for this game then for it not to work is ridiculous, I feel ripped off, I have paid good money for a game that doesn't work, they should at least offer to change your disc or give you your money back or even acknowledge the problem and say they are working on a fix. Coranub
my guess is during their testing they overlooked a certain type of ps3`s and 360`s, they tested some models, but not all. Something must have gone wrong, never in my life have i experienced such a faulty game, and seems alot of people share my opinion. DEV1L
I think they knew about the problem but went ahead with the sale of it because it was only a small number that it wouldn't work on, just to get there money, if they tested the game which they obviously did, they must have known. Coltrane's Muse
With a need to meet such huge demands for the game, perhaps the copies that are suffering from frequent lock-ups and/or freezing originated from a plant that encountered pressing issues? Even if this were the case Rockstar still could have prevented this by not rushing the printing. I on the other hand do not believe that this was the case. I firmly believe that had Rockstar come out with a beta or demo we'd all have been fine. It's like they crossed the street with their eyes closed.
