Can't even start game!

Am trying to play GTA 4 on Xbox 360. Games starts up then gets stuck at the screen where it asks me to sign in:

 

"You are not signed in. You will need to sign in to save your progress and to be awarded achievements. Do you want to sign in now?"

 

Press A for yes, B for no.

 

Neither the A or B buttons work!! In fact nothing on the controller works on this screen.

 

My Xbox Live account automatically signs in when I turn on my console. Any ideas??? I already returned the game once and got a new one today!

 

I also tried this game on my friend's Xbox and it works just fine - that screen doesn't even come up!!!

 

Any help is appreciated.
