andsteele
Okay, going out getting all the things I need for a good game of gta, can some of you technical gurus tell me if HDMI is better then component? I currently use component cables connected to my 42" LG LCD tv full HD(1080). If hdmi is any better, I will go and get a cable.
ericcomp2003
If you are going to spend $200 on some Best Buy/Monster Cable rip off HDMI cable, then no, the difference in picture quality does not warrant the price difference. But, if you are going to order a generic HDMI cable off the internet (which is just as good as the overpriced monster cable one) for 20 bucks or less, than go for it. LCM
I got PureAV leads, I noticed a difference in the graphical quality of my games (PS3).
Mark
As long as the device you're using can output 1080p, then HDMI all the time...as long as it's at least 1.3a standard. Why? HDMI 1.3 can output 1080p, older versions of HDMI and component can only do 1080i maximum. If you're connecting a 360 with only HDMI 1.2, i'd still recommend you use that....but depends if you're gonna be using your optical out on it too. The supplied X360 HDMI gets in the bloody way! I've used Vivanco standard leads (Gold Plated as standard from them) and their Prowire range....I can't see the difference myself, and I'm usually quite bitchy when it comes to my AV stuff. You don't need to spend any more than 10% of your total equipment cost on all your leads. So if you're needing say 2 HDMI leads for your Blu-ray and 360 for a say an £800 telly, no more thant about £100 in total. I'd recommend gold plated stuff around £30 really...unless you want to spend a couple of hundred quid on leads you just won't notice it...and to be honest, your LG won't show you the difference cause it's LG. Thorpe
I recommend HDMI. I notice the text on-screen "glows" when on component for me (not very much). This is something I probably wouldn't have noticed if I didn't use HDMI. The HDMI would probably be the recommended option.
