sorskilla
Hi! So here's the story... I decided to modify the aluminum bat in GTA:SA, so I opened my 3Ds Max 9 and I turned the bat.dff into something resembling a hammer. Then I exported the (hammer)bat.dff, replace the original bat.dff with my (hammer)bat.dff using TXD Workshop. I closed Max(so GTA doesnt lag) and tested the new "bat" in GTA. Everything was fine except that the hammerhead was 5 cm away from its base. I closed GTA, opened Max to fix this flaw and just as I was importing my (hammer)bat.dff an exception message showed saying: "This DFF is locked! The author of this model do not allow you to modify it. Please contact the author for the permission." After that the ingame model dissapeared, too. Now CJ is wielding...nothing, instead of the hammer. The original bat.dff works fine. I used Kam's latest scripts for the import/export dff in Max 9. What did i do wrong? P.S. I tryed DFF Unlocker.exe, but still I cant open my (hammer)bat.dff P.S.S I'm noob at modeling, that my first GTA mod, apart from skinning pedestrians. I am very sorry if this topic is posted in the wrong section. Please excuse me.
simkas
You should have saved the model as a 3d max project file. Then you wouldn't need to import the dff. And was the "Lock dff" line ticked in Kam's script window when exporting?
sorskilla
I'm so dumb. Duh, I guess I should have done that.... Thanks for the advice. No exception messages were shown during the export process, though. http://www.uploadgeek.com/uploads456/0/screeen.JPG
derty
I believe you are using an old version of the DFF exporter before Lock DFF was a choice. Try the full maxscript pack "Kams All In One Mod Scripts" or KAMS. There is a way to open your DFF, however it is not ok to talk about it here (This thing you want the tool for is very easy, and for the protection of mod authors, it is *not quite* public knowledge, so check your PM)
