WHY DIDN'T PS3 FIGHT FOR DLC FOR US?

GTA IV was harder to make on PS3 than it was for xbox 360. hence the delay for the game.

 

so makes sense that the DLC is for 360 only.

1. The 360 cant be installed hence why it has framerate issues / loading times are longer.

2. The PS3 has an advantage on frame rates / loading times.

3. The 360 also caused a delay as it was hard to get it all on a DVD disc.

4. Console games that need installing have a better framerate due to reading from the HDD than a disc.

5. I hope your Core system is nice when the action gets hot. How many frames is that? WOW! 6 FRAMES PER SECOND!

This topic is about DLC. Anyway, no review thus far has mentioned either version as being worse on the framerate front.

I do, I have seen just about every review thus far. IGN mentioned framerate hiccups but not for the 360 version in particular. Which review are you referring to then?

 

Plus, loading from disc or HDD wouldn't make a noticeable difference as far as framerate is concerned anyway.

If you've followed prior threads, I always point out my findings... Sony turned down DLC for the R* price tag, because they feel the online model is not proof positive of success.

Think of it in terms of the way Microsoft looks at Sony's ideas behind HOME, at least as it relates to the E3 announced roll-out.

The Ps3 Version of GTA will have DLC but not now, It will be later, Rockstargames have not confirmed what content it will be, but we wil have some DLC later at PS3 Store. Remember Rockstar for years had GTA Exclusive for Sony, How in the hell they will let PS3 gamers without it, Is just like in the past Sony paid for the game exclusive and now Microsoft paid fot some exclusive content, because they thaught that they could have some boost sales, but PS3 will have after a period of time fellas, believe me.

Who said PS3 won't get DLC, no one. Xbox 360 will get 2 exclusive "episodes" that the PS3 wont have. That doesn't mean that the PS3 wont get anything, I'm sure it will get some exclusives of its own but for free instead of 50 million.

the PS3 wont get any exclusive content unless sony pays for it... It would be bad business for Rockstar... If any DLC is released for the PS3, it will also be released on the 360 (unless sony pays up)

That still MAY or MAY NOT be true... Also fact, Sony lost money on Dell battery recall. Sony lost money on the PS3 production cost cuts. We got them for the sell through price because Sony undercut the cost of production to make them. If you've followed the press that was clearly out there on the market, How can you not know this?

Now why would rockstar make content then make only half of the money they can from it?

 

Rockstar doesn't run a charity, they run a business, they got shareholders to satisfy. Unless Sony coughs up the money for exclusive DLC, which they can't afford, there won't be exclusive DLC for PS3.

 

Yes you will probably get the third pack of DLC as well if there is one, but it's going to be for both consoles.

 

PS. Unless you know a bit about what financial situation Sony and MS really is in then you shouldn't be throwing out stuff like "Sony could just have paid 80 million USD for DLC, but they didn't want to". It's not a question of want, it's a question of can. Sure most of us can buy all the PS3 / XBOX games we want + a 50" HD TV, but it will bankrupt most of you and you will have to compromise by selling other things you own, loaning money or just eat noodles for a year or so.

 

The same goes for Sony, they could probably scrape together 50 million USD for DLC, but it would put them in a very bad financial situation.

Let's consider that argument that Sony gets some dirt cheap DLC versus the $50Million that MS paid. This should be a non issue really, because it totally excludes the fact that people WERE debating if the DLC MS paid for would be offered for free or not. It will cost consumers, and the reason Sony does not see it as a viable revenue avenue. Get it yet?

omg, all the reviews say its the ps3 that has less frame rate issues.

Even R* themselves have said the use of dvd drive in the 360 has limitted the size of the game and needs to be remedied

apparantly ps3 will get dlc, i read it in an australian street mgazine today, it said xbox has dlc and the ps3's will be coming soon.
