Will SA to IV be as Big of a Leap as II to III

We all know how innovative and ground breaking GTA 2 to 3 was, how no one had ever seen anything like it and basically blew everyone away. Gave no holds barred free roaming a whole new meaning. I remember telling myself "I will never EVER get tired of this game." From II to III the game improved by leaps and bounds, Will the jump from San Andreas to IV be as big? If not bigger?

ima say it's goin ta be bigger. being that we've been expeiencing 3d gameplay since gta III but at the same time going from gta III to san andreas was a huge jump for me, and since gta IV has more to do in free roam, the game it's self, and lets not even mention graphics and online play...i think its safe to say that gta IV is gonna take it to the top. HUGE JUMP!!!!!! lol.gif

For the love of Azura...

From II to III they changed from top down 2d to free look 3d. That's a massive change! GTA SA to IV is simply better graphics and physics. A "modern day Oblivion" so to speak.

Graphics:

Higher resolution textures, better shaders, aliasing and LOD.

Physics:

Euphoria or what it's called is better than the one used on the III series.

If Fallout III hadn't claimed the title "Oblivion with guns" then GTA IV could smile.gif

I'm going to say a smaller leap (a leap none-the-less), but a far more refine one at the same time. A lot of features were cut from SA to IV, where as all the other games took those features, and added more and more to them. From what I hear, we can't even shave (seriously .. wtf ... does this mean I may have to have a pube beard the whole game!!)

Yeah its a leap, just not the leap of VC to SA or II to III, predominantly because they have lost some features rather than the usual of adding more on top. Hell, I am still shocked at the amount of previews mentioning the in car view, which it seems was scrapped ... not amused by that at all. I have been wanting that since GTA III, so it looks like another 10 year wait GRRRRRR!!

The reason why many features are lost is the fact that the game uses an entirely new engine.

Not only that, but im sure theyll have atleast 2 more titles released on the Xbox360 and PS3. Why cram everything into the first GTA on the new system, and have little else to add to the follow ups to IV. People are going to be like, "Well its not even different from IV, IV already has that, Its the same game as IV, im just going to save my money, no point in getting the game if there is so little improvement." Rockstar has yet to let us down, dont go and nit pick every little thing. Trust me, theyll improve with every new GTA release.

Realism wise I reckon there'd be a big leap, same graphic wise. But not all around, GTA:II to GTA:III literally added a new dimension.

The GTA fan

I don't think so, it's pretty hard to beat 2D to 3D. The only other GTA-style game which was 3D at that time was Driver/Driver 2 and they sucked compared to GTA3.

The answer is no. II to III was a jump from 2D to 3D. There is hardly a bigger leap a game can make. What we will see is a refinement of formula and introduction of new techniques- basically, the difference between III and SA, a bit bigger of a leap perhaps. But teh biggest leap forward in the series was II to III.

Even if it wont be as big as from 2 to 3, this game is going to be EPIC.

Agreed.
