MalR
So, anyone know enough yet to confirm on whether or not there's custom radio stations? I know it's been asked many times now, but now that more people have the game, does anyone have an answer? Thanks.
Johnny77v
ive asked this twice already for ps3 version . i read a few weeks ago that you can add up to 11 tracks of your own music like psp lcs let , as long as the artist and song name are on the hard drive, and that you can change ghe songs anytime ur not on a mission using ur cell phone . this has yet to be confirmed, a friend of a friend has had the game a week now and hasnt tried or figured it out. but with 19 hours till midnight we will find out soon enough. i read that cus rockstar paied so much for music licences they might not let u add ur own tracks due to it not being in character and feeling of the game . also with the mp3 player being taken outa the cell phone and game this might have been how you could have added your own tracks
Shotta876
You can't add your own radio station; PS3 nor 360.
MalR
Man I hope you can. In my opinion, it'd add character and feeling to the game if you could drive to songs that you know and love, rather than something you don't wanna here. Edit: @ Guy above me. Source or something? Shotta876
Friend of mine has the PS3 version, and I've watched a few live feeds where the player answered questions. The only way to listen to your own in game tracks = if you have a 360 and use the dashboard. Of course, it mutes the rest of the game. I have a PS3, and I am disappointed but I'm fine with the selection.......
Johnny77v
if you cant then thats really s#¡t... they should offer this for next gen console, best thing about the pc version was driving to your fave music. the only good gta soundtrack was vice city, san andreas was soooo bad music wise
McDodge34
Yup, would make the game a lot more personal, I like Country music, I guess they don't have any country song in the game, general public doesn't listen to this type of music after all (I totally respect everyone music taste is personal choice), they had a country station in GTASA but I don't think anyone listened to it and the songs were not the best in the world either. Anyway, I have a huge collection of songs that I like to listen while I'm in a car with someone (can't get a driver license due to some problems with my eyes) it would be really bad to not be able to listen to them. LongDarkBlues
Statistically, Country is the most popular genre of radio in America, you know. But, yeah, there isn't one, certainly not if you're shooting for a NYC ambiance.

Hobojoe4eva
idk why they'd take that out it was in the xbox and pc versions of every other 3d gta.
GuruAskew
Kotaku has confirmed that neither version has custom soundtracks. As I've said before, this is likely due to the fact that Rockstar's partnership with Amazon with the ZIT service is a revenue stream that would be threatened if you listen to music you already own as opposed to the music they want you to buy. It's certainly an easy-to-implement feature that has been successfully done several times before in this generation and the last. There's really no way the omission is due to technical difficulties. Rockstar simply chose not to include this feature and the way it is in the final game is likely to earn them a big chunk of money. Case closed. LongDarkBlues
It's not inherently awful, but not being able to use tracks you already own is lame - how much from Amazon to add custom tracks, I wonder... There's no way I'm paying $15 to add 15 tracks I already bought when the xbox is in the same room as the stereo.
GuruAskew
Source? Can't you read? First word of my post: Kotaku, a reliable gaming blog. The way ZIT works is that you're playing the game, you like the song that's on the radio, you "tag" it by dialing a certain number, this information is sent to the Rockstar Social Club where there is a link to download an MP3 of the song you heard in the game and liked from Amazon.com's MP3 service. It's not a way to add new music into the game, it's a way to purchase the music you liked FROM the game onto your real-life MP3 player. There's no way to play the music you like within the actual game. This would interfere with the aforementioned ZIT feature. Rockstar wants you listening to their radio stations so you will like the songs enough to buy them from Amazon through Rockstar.
LongDarkBlues
Yeah.. but if you were one of the 2 companies that worked out that deal, wouldn't you make sure it worked both ways? It seems pretty limited to only allow you to download 200 tracks once that whole infrastructure is in place.

McDodge34
Guess I can mix the sound of my PS3 with my stereo, I'll plug my old DJ stuff (from my uncle who's now retired) but takes a lot of space to just mix 2 sources of sound together. Hope at least we can mute the sound of the radio in the game
mjnichols16
On the 360 you can listen to your MP3s in the dashboard while you play the game, but that's not really a benefit because a PS3 player could simply listen to a CD while he plays. But oh well just because there aren't custom stations doesn't mean you can't listen to your own music while playing. Improvise
