Driving System: It does NOT suck.

Alot of people (Including myself!) have complained the driving system sucks. The cars seem to have terrible handling, and its hard to make turns around corners. I would like to confirm that this is FALSE and bull.

Reasoning

When I first saw the online leakage of gameplay footage and the live footage, I told myself "Wow, the new driving system sucks ass." and most people did agree to it. While I got the game today, I totally was not saying that. It is not what you have seen in gameplay footage or live streams - It is very realistic, and adds a great touch to the game. Not only is the handling great, but the brakes are realistic with hand brakes, and regular brakes. It will take some time to get used to it and become a great driver. Once you start playing multiplayer, I'm going to recommend that you let someone experienced drive the car in the missions.

Don't judge anything you have seen on live footage or gameplay videos. Most of it is bad quality, and just let's you down once you see something you don't like (That's how I am at least, I see something I don't like and don't like the game).

Other Small Few Words...

The game is great, you will all enjoy it. The new system for cops is great, although you may find that cops may be dicks at times (Shooting you when you have 2 stars), etc. I won't say much else, but I've only been playing it for 5-8 hours today, and I am only a small fraction done with the game. Hope this helped anyone that was curious about the driving system. Feel free to ask anything you like, and I may be able to answer it.

The graphics are awesome, and realistic. I have not seen any pop-ins, and the BLUR which is unnoticeable I believe adds more realism to the game (I don't mind it,). The only thing I told myself about the graphics is "Damn, hope they get some realistic trees when the next GTA comes out". Everything else, It's as realistic as It can get.

To add to that, Niko is pretty funny so you'll enjoy a bit of humor here and there wink.gif

Quick question, as I am very slightly concerned about pop in. Are you playong on the 360 or PS3?

I am playing on the 360. I have experienced no pop-ins what so ever. Even If I did, It had to be unnoticeable in some way or another becaue I would have noticed it.

That's why people that make assumptions before they play the game are idiots.

p.s. somone made a thread earlier saying A) the cover system sucks B) the animation for running wand running and walking up stairs was messed up...

A) The cover system is exactly like Gears of War or Kane and Lynch ... its very impressive its actually excellent considering the game has never really been about giving yourself cover. It adds a new element and it works incredible well. Don't listen to the nay sayers.

B) I have no idea what the guy what crack the guy was smoking. Actually the first thing i noticed when nikko left the very first apartment was how awesome the stairs animation was. Most games have 2 animations walking/running then when you go up steps you have the same walking/running animation that makes it look like there running in mid air up steps or something silly. In GTA when walking you walk on ever single step and it looks fine. When running nikko sort of side steps with his feet (like i do in real life when i run up and down stairs fast) it gives you stability and balance and it looks fine also. So i have no idea why he was talking crap about that.

Not trying to be stuck up sounding, off topic, or smart alleck, but didn't the cops always shoot at you when you had two stars?

I assumed the poor driving in the leak videos I saw was due the most of the people playing with one had.

I am not sure, but they are harder to evade on foot. By car, It's very easy with 2-3 to stars in my opinion.

I have the game and the driving is much improved, it's less arcadey, more like Grand Turismo. icon14.gif

I would give it a 9.9 out of 10 to be honest from what I have seen with the missions, the characters, the radio, the cops, the graphics, the feel of the city, etc.

Of course, that does not include multiplayer which we'll have to see soon wink.gif

People that say driving sucks in this game have to realize one thing:

If the driving sucks, its not the fault of the car, but YOU. Put a pro behind the wheel and he'll make it look Golden.

Not 100% sure, but there are loads as missions go on.

@lonewolf: I am not quiet sure, but I believe you can just by not hitting the auto aim button. Can't tell you for sure.
