Rumor: GTA IV DLC May Have New Cities

I thought Lazlow said it was something along the lines of just more story, characters and things of that sort?

There's no way R* would take $50 million to sell a new city on one console when they could make that same map and sell it to both consoles for a much greater amount of money.

Why sell DLC of an entirely new city for $10 when you could make an entirely new game out of that and sell it for 60?

Because they already made $50,000,000... Microsoft bought the rights for 50 million, yes 50 million... you do realise crackdown only cost 50 million to make. I'm pretty sure they can afford to create a new island or two with $50,000,000 then they have sales on top of that. They'll make a killing on this don't worry.

hahaha

GTA IV was made for 50 million so i dont see why they couldnt make a new city at that price.

the only thing i see going against this is the timeframe

Think of the ps3 users...R* wouldn't be THAT stink to em.

New missions, tops.

I don't really think R* would give a f*ck about the ps3 users considering that MS paid 50 mill and Sony didn't pay anything. (its all about the money)

It's not a new city. Episodic content anyone? I wouldn't consider that episodic.

I'd bet anything it's more missions. A city wouldn't make sense. They've already said Staten Island was too boring to replicate. When has R* ever lied to us trying to withhold a secret?

The developers talked so much about how it's a New York story and New York is the star and all...why would you move to a new city and start doing missions there? And how would that tie into the storyline? Say you've just started the story when the DLC comes out. You'd download a new city? In the middle of a story? It's not logical.

I read in one of the reviews about how after finishing the main story, Niko got some call about something regarding the final; mission.

I've read reviews about how people wish the story would keep going, How the story is somewhat unresolved. How what you do during the story mode has effects on your stay past the storyline. It's a chance to completely finish the story.

Why would R* go through the trouble of making a city and only charge $10 for it?

Surely sony knew about the content and what was offered for the cash, obviously they don't think it's that drastic a difference.

Hang on, didn't they spend about 3 years building this city? In which case a whole new city - even a very small one - is going to be a tough call when you remember the DLC will be arriving this summer...

Still, it's all possible.

If there is gonna be any new land, it will not be a city.

It would be an island or maybe they will add on to jersey.

I don't see it completely impossible. I don't see it as being VC or SA. Like mentioned in the article something along the lines of Atlantic City wouldn't be too horribly hard to do. I'd imagine it'd be somewhere close to LC/NY. But it'd have to be smaller, just one little area of a town pretty much. Atlantic City seems most likely, DC would raise so many issues so thats highly unlikely. Maybe they'd drop down to Virginia Beach... sh*t, that place is like 1 really long ass street and thats it. That'd be easy to recreate.

BUT, also . . . Dan Houser said in an interview that they haven't really began looking at what to do for DLC.

So who knows?

Noone, thats who.

Soo All You Saying Is That M$ Want R* To Make These Islands Only For the XBOX Soo They Can Sell more Hard Drives??? Most Unlikely

why would they sell more hard drives? I have the smallest hard drive and still have 75% left of it.

Just look at the half life 2 episodes... I think there's a good chance that it will be a new city... + MS payed 50 mill for that content (that's the same amount R* spend on making the entire game)

Even more proof it's not a city. How could you develop a city comparable to LC in terms of detail etc. by September?

You realize in terms of cities, LC is the size of ... well... a few boroughs? IF it'd be a city it'd be smaller, as i mentioned, and probably an add on of jersey. It'd be something bigger than a few missions, since microsoft payed half the making of the game for it. The only other big thing to do to LC is give it winter.

how is that proof?? Im sure they allready started making the content (my guess is it's done allready) Houser just doesn't wanna admit it, because he knows it would hurt the sales of the ps3 version if people knew there would be an entire extra city as DLC for the 360 (it wouldn't be the first time a developer lied about something)

Please. People aren't going to not buy GTA because of episodic content on the other system, especially considering they knew about episodic content for almost a year now.

It's not proof, but it's hard evidence.

And I ask again, when has R* ever lied to cover their tracks/hide something about a game?

Why would houser lie tho? As you said earlia, why would R* think 'bout what the ps3 users would like?

I personally feel they would show more loyalty to sony than that, m$ have the cash to spend over n over for more missions, 50k or 60 doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be a new city. M$ will spend that much extra to try n beat sony in sales, it's just a swizz to get more money out of us at the end of the day....don't build your hopes up.

Some ps3 people might get pissed if they heard the 360 version was getting a new city and decide to boycott the game.

The only game that has done DLC right, is Crackdown.

What I hope they do with DLC:

- Start a new side story.

- Have about 5 hours of new missions.

- Add new guns, cars, and clothing.

Im not really expecting anything at this point, all im saying is that i see no reason why it couldn't be a new city/new area.

It'll be like gta IV stories... i.e. like the psp versions changed 3 and VC adding guns and a new plot line maybe out of the eyes of a different protagonist but one that we already know from GTA IV... Seems like the most likely scenario to me.

I think it would be cool if Rockstar added a small Westchester part and a GTA Style Boston. I mean in real life New York City and Boston are competetors against each other especially in baseball (Screw the Red Sox, i'm a Yankees fan biggrin.gif ). I think it would be cool if you were walking around the Boston area and somebody said "Hey you Slavic Prick, go back down to Liberty City!" I've been to Boston in real life, and i think it's a pretty nice city, so i think it would be a pretty good choice for the downloadable content especially since the Irish mob is there. That would mean tensions between the Liberty City McReary family and the GTA-Boston Irish Family.

Or they could put Carcer City in there, or just a Long Island or Staten Island. I do hope its a new city though!

It's NOT going to be new cities, Jesus Christ. It's already been stated what the DLC is by Lazlow and others. Why do you people keep hanging onto that idea?
