FourForty
so, i wont be getting my HDTV in time for GTA4, so i'll be using a 28" SD CRT TV. when playing newer PS3 games on that tv they sort of look bad. i know its cause they are made for HDTV's and mine cannot handle all the info. The text is small and not readable on some screens for example. So i just want to know how GTA4 will look on a SD TV? Will it be playable or incredibly blurry? Hopefully i'll get my tv within a month or so.

I have an old "28 SDTV as well. some PS3 demos texts are unreadable on it. some guy who played the PS3 version on SDTV said that the text looks fine and that the game looks great, yesterday, and another guy who played the 360 version on SDTV said the game looks very good as well. I hope it is true. would also like to hear from anyone that played on SDTV.

heinsmit
well i only have an sdtv... so i hook my 360 up to me pc monitor, which handles resolutions HIGHER than hd, and i'm sure yours does too. so you should do that to get the hd experience. you will need: ps3/xbox 360 vga cable http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=...o=1218&doy=27m4 - one of those for the thing below http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=...o=1213&doy=27m4 - 3.5mm jack stereo coupler (connect one end to vga cable thing, and the other to pc speakers green cable)

Like as if it were actually on your PC? I might try this... I have a crappy 13 inch SDTV.

heinsmit
yeah, looks better than sdtvs... and some hdtvs... because your base resolution is 1024x768 which is already 768p and many pc monitors go a lot higher. its worth it. altogether i only spent around £30 but in american you could probably do it for $
Krazy_Kroz
i use my pc monitor, and games look great. its at a resolution of 1280x1024, which is basically hi-def if you ask me..
sladek
I used to use my 24" SDTV but I got the VGA adapter and use it on my 17" 1280*1024 monitor and it's much better

Rapido
is there not more to HD than just high resolutions? Correct me if I'm wrong but just because you can run big resolutions (my PC is 1440 by 990) it doesnt mean its got the same pixel counts as an HD TV of the same resolution? I'm not sure where the distinction is if anyone can err, help me out here? otherwise I'll clear some space on my desk and plug it into my PC monitor rather than my 20" CRT tv... Before I got my Samsung HDTV (1080P), I got Uncharted and I was playing that on a SDTV, is it still looked excellent. I doubt GTA IV will be any different in terms of looks an a SDTV. So don't worry. Mafiozo
S H I T i guess cos its SD Yes, lets bash "Old" technology! HDTV's are awesome with a next-gen console, but it still doesn't mean SDTV's look like sh*t.
