I would have given this more thought, but the second you said IGN+Sony=Love(In your terms, these are my terms) I didn't care. Something tells me that if IGN had said, "Get the 360 version!" then you wouldn't have said that. So funny.

What is even funnier is that fanboys from both sides are saying, "Face facts!".

i will be the first to admit, im partial to the 360, but this is because of live. i WILL buy a PS3 eventually, but pretty much only for the Blu-Ray.

It and many other reviews say that the ps3 has less pop-in, faster mission loads and more realistic colour palette. How is the x360 version better? I'd rather have a better performing game thank you very much.

In both ways, neither side says they are the superior version, yet none of them say they for certain have any flaws and even if there are flaws they are easily overshadowed...as is the case in real life. A PS3 owner will be just as happy as a 360 owner of this game for sure- and they will have, for the most part, the same experience.

this is what i stated in my first post, id take a developers word as to which version plays better, and theres dan houser (who prefers the PS3) and lazlo (who prefers the 360). even the people who made the game cant really deside which version is better with out splitting hairs. so if thats what it comes down to its all about personal preference.

 

for me online play is the desiding factor, so ill go with live. for people who like PS3 its the fact the the PS3 has 5 less trees that pop-in. to each his own.

Yes, I won an Xbox 360 but I dislike both Sony and Microsoft equally. If anything I dislike Microsoft more. I'm not bothered about the insignificant differences personally. I own an Xbox 360 and I'm not going to purchase a PS3 because it'd be a waste of money owning two consoles.

It would appear that the review in question recommends both. I thought it was a balanced review that leaves the question about which console is "best" up to personal interpretation.

 

Want a slightly smother technical game? PS3

Want dlc and slightly more reliable multi player? 360

 

I admit, I understand where the anger comes from. It's a lot of change to lay down for a product that may be inferior. I put a deposit down on both models and don't know which one to follow through with still.

 

though... I'm leaning a bit towards the 360 for the dlc. Then again, the PS3 online is free....

well i bought the PS3 version for now and later on when the content comes out for the 360 i think i will buy it then. Just hope the content will be good.

I own both consoles and I like both, you know why because both are kick ass systems!!! I had my xbox first so there is a little bit of a pref to it but that could also be because I have a large collection of games for my 360 and only 2 for ps3. Anyway I made the choice to go with the 360 version, and let me tell you it was a really hard one for me. Yes the PS3 has slightly and I must repeat SLIGHTLY better graphics than the 360 again this may be because I have been playing newer games on PS3 I.E. Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, havent played it on 360 so I cant really make a fair comparison of the games but I digress. I chose the 360 version because of the enhanced online, and anyone who says that PSN is better than Live heck that it even holds a candle to live is sadly mistaken and has probably never used live, now this may change with the eventual release of Home for PSN but I really dont know. The second reason is for the DLC you cant go wrong with expansion packs for GTA IV I mean come on extra maps that are supposed to be the size of vice city and possibly San Andreas, new cars, new missions, new story line additions. Add that with extra multiplayer features of live and it makes it almost a slam dunk however I may have to get both versions just so I can make a fair unbiased evaluation of it on both systems, I do really wish they would have given the option for the install on the 360 version that is a great thing the PS3 has going for it also I do like the fact that it is released on Blu-Ray that means more room for detail and less compresion which has to be a good thing I also like the fact that the PS3 uses HDMI which IMHO give sharper detail and better looking experience, now I know the 360 elite has HDMI but I dont have an elite so to me that is a moot point and refuse to go out and buy a whole new 360 just so I can have HDMI on it. So really either version you buy will leave you with your jaw on the floor and I am thinking that somehow the DLC will make its way to the PS3, so go out and buy it for whatever system you have and if you have both like me you will be faced with a hard decision because both systems kick so much ass its not even funny, the only thing that rocks harder than these systems is playing GTA IV on either one!!!!!!!!!!!

 

 

PS Faboys are really really funny. for somebody to place that kind of undying faith in a company is really really naive and pretty funny.

Final Thoughts

The good news for Grand Theft Auto fans is that whatever platform you have chosen as your own, GTA IV excels on both. They are almost evenly matched, feature for feature. Gamers will have to decide which is more important to them, a slightly more technically sound experience on the PlayStation 3 or downloadable content and Xbox Live integration on the Xbox 360.

 

If this were a personal decision, I'd have chosen the PlayStation 3 edition, mostly based on my preference for the DualShock controller and the performance edge. However, one thing that we have yet to experience is how well the PlayStation Network will handle the online portions of GTA IV, an extremely important consideration. I place less of an emphasis on features like Achievements and Gamerscore, but appreciate how well crafted and important these features are to others.

 

In the end, each version stands on its own, with the only downside to the differences being that those invested in their particularly backed console will expend so much effort focusing on something far less important than the game itself.
