While i was reading the Herald Sun in the morning i came across 2 articals in the newspaper.

(the 2nd one is a preview/review that has all the info we all ready know about)

Video game enthusiasts can buy cocain, visit strip clubs, fire rocket launchers and set enemies alight in a violent new game version that has family groups outraged.

The latest instalment of the Grand Theft Auto series, to be relesed world wide on tuesday, contained such graphic violence that it had to be modified to meet Australian classification standards.

The Autralian Office of Film, Literature and classification gave Grand Theft Auto IV an MA15+ rating and warned consumers to expect strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references.

"violence includes hand to hand combat and use of various weapons including knives, baseball bats, a night stick, pistols, machineguns, shot guns, rifles, grenades and rocket launchers," the board has warned

"As the violence is relatively frequent causing blood spray and injury detail, the impact is strong."

Australian Family Association spokswomen Angela Conway said suck severe violence could affect the player's behaviour more then violent films.

As long as the game fits country laws it should be fine to do whatever it wants.

We need a r-18+ rating/ 17+ for video games then the family groups won't have much to be outraged about.

 

It would actually be better for everyone well almost everyone otherwise it would have been done already.

The worst thing about it is, there have been WAY worse media out there, books, magazines, movies, TV shows, music (some of the gangsta rap out there is ridiculously lewd)

 

And in some if not many cases, the media is tasteless and lacking any feasibility merit to creativity.

 

That sort of media are c*ntS, they don't acknowledge the work put into this game. ITS NOT ALL ABOUT THE VIOLENCE FOR f*ckS SAKE SCHOOL YOURSELF UP YOU MEDIA f*ckS.

 

And SO much credit to them, discredit the most anticipated game to date in the world, why? because it makes such great news!!!

 

Original thing to do? Naw, but so is having a baby murder on the news every week.

It will be interesting to see how much of a media bashing GTA 4 gets in Australia. I am sure it will be in every paper and probably on 60 minutes! Surely this just goes to show that Australia really needs an R18+ rating for computer games.

 

I am gonna get the game on Tuesday from JBHifi and I have also got a UK version being shipped from HMV.co.uk - so I dont have to put up with a cut version.

 

I will end up with 2 copies, but hey, Ill just trade in the AU version when another game comes out...

To add to my post, what about all the f*cking violence in the new Keeanu Reeves movie? He's a cop and he KILLS people.

 

In this game, you're a CROOK and you kill people. I think it's a way more realistically moral situation if you want to go all crazy on being a bad influence.

i cant believe how much stick gta gets, in gears of war you can chainsaw people in half! im surprised at how strict aussie laws on things like this are seeing how layed back the lifestyle is compared to most places.
