spathis
While i was reading the Herald Sun in the morning i came across 2 articals in the newspaper. (the 2nd one is a preview that has all the info we all ready no about) VIOLENT GAME SPARKS WARNING MIAWLING LAM Video game enthusiasts can buy cocain, visit strip clubs, fire rocket launchers and set enemies alight in a violent new game version that has family groups outraged. The latest instalment of the Grand Theft Auto series, to be relesed world wide on tuesday, contained such graphic violence that it had to be modified to meet Australian classification standards. The Autralian Office of Film, Literature and classification gave Grand Theft Auto IV an MA15+ rating and warned consumers to expect strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references. "violence includes hand to hand combat and use of various weapons including knives, baseball bats, a night stick, pistols, machineguns, shot guns, rifles, grenades and rocket launchers," the board has warned "As the violence is relatively frequent causing blood spray and injury detail, the impact is strong." Australian Family Association spokswomen Angela Conway said suck severe violence could affect the player's behaviour more then violent films. Why do so many people have to be such hypocrites? Violent videogames have never been scientifically linked to negative and/or aggressive behaviour. GTA is fiction for god's sake. Any fo-shizzl-ma-nizzle straight-up gangstaaa rappa, communicating his idiotic lyrical nonsense as real and righteous messes up kids' minds more. Oh and to the so called "family groups": Overprotecting your children is not helpful either. That's why they become mama's boys and get mobbed in school. And THAT's why they go berserk with Daddy's collector's edition Desert Eagle. Get your facts straight and your mind broadened, dumbasses!

Have these people not watched a movie called Lethal Weapon? It's on TV, it has all the above. These people have no idea.
freethy
Why must they have so much beef with Gta? It's different in aus because kids who are only 15 can legally buy it. Sure it's edited, but it's still graphic violence. It'll be another story if they had an 18 rating for games.
reeferchief
Buy Cocaine, visit strip clubs, violence, weapons. I've got a news flash for them, people do these things in real life, I think they should be more concerned about real criminal activity than that carried out in a game. citylink_uk
I thought a universal 18 was commonplace worldwide, but obviously not. Instead of modifying it and causing all the fuss, why not class it as 18 rated. GTA has got a very good way of diverting all this (blame it on a video game) hatred from some people. This is because the game has so much humour behind it that it couldn't possibly be a compelling reason to 'do as the game illustrates'. This is valid untill you open the newspaper and the headline reads: "Video game fan fires RPG at neighbours cat"!
