san andreas sucks it's only appealing to little kids and non-gamers.

for us hardcore gamers, gta4 is a better game, they put more time, and money into this game perfecting it as a game.

I think to get myself ready and in the mood for IV, I'm gonna dig out my GTA 3 and Vice City, and hammer them over the weekend not San Andreas though, it blows.

OK, since the videos were leaked Ive been a little skeptical.

No doubt this game is going to be groundbreaking and have some incredible features and realistic physics.

But wheres the heart?

1. No parachutes. REALLY disappointed about this.... REALLY REALLY disappointed. how cool would it be to jump of the empire state building and just be "free".

2. No large wasted space. Sometimes in SA it was nice to get away from los santos and go to the Nevada desert place or the large woodland area.

3. No jets/proper planes. I wanna fly across the map and land at an airport or jump out and skydive.

The whole appeal of GTA is a huge world in which you can explore and do what you want. Not like other video games that have set script and narrative you have to follow.

So on he 29th im playing san andreas

I personally never want to hear the name "Big Smoke" or hear OG Loc rap ever again.

Read the lil title to the left, right below my name. Yep, NO BITCHASSNESS! There is too much bitchassness going around this forum. Go ahead and play San Andreas. I'll enjoy GTA4, including all the other 5 million plus people who is going to get this game. People are just not satisfied anymore. Makes me f*cking sick.

Hello!

First post.

Anyway, the OP had three points. I shall reply yo them:

1- parachutes- really, that big a deal? I guess they are if you used helicopters or planes, but since GTA IV is shooting for a more realistic tone, I see less reason for all three frankly.

2- There was no wasted land in GTAIII or Vice City either, and I still prefer GTAIII over any of the others. City environmentrs may have less open room, but there is more to do in the space provided. That, IMHO, makes for better gampley.

3- I never used planes and I rarely used helicopters. I found most things that gave me a very unfair advantage over my foes to be boring. I was a groundpounder- I preferred my fighting and movement on the ground. Nothing made me feel better than shooting down a heli with an RPG then turning around and unleashing some M4 hell on SWAT Officers and slowly cutting a path through Los Santos. That made me feel like more of a badass than being some dude who is a menace in the sky.

One thing I don't understand is why have they taken bicycles out, I mean that was not unrealistic at all, everyone rides bikes. You never really hear anyone mentioning the bikes and stuff do you, and the fact you can't fly airplanes doesn't bother me, I played San Andreas last night for about an hour, then got bored. Oh by the way has splitscreen multiplayer been confirmed it won't be in the game?, thanks. cookie.gif

1.- this is not a f*cking game about parachutes, get over it (if you have an ipod there's a game about them, enjoy it).

2.- why do you need empty space? that's boring!!

3.- i agree 100 % with you, planes were my favourite part of SA, but IV is still the best game ever, so i don't complain.

All you guys saying its been over-hyped only have yourselfs to blame sly.gif Because although R* make one of, if not the greatest games franchise ever, they never brag about it in the press, magazines or any other media for that matter (and when they do speak to people about GTA its usually after months of asking/begging for an interview, like the Sam Houser interview in Edge). Everyone except R* hypes GTA up, whether its Microsoft, Sony, Magazines, games TV programmes, retailers or the fans? Its always everyone but R* thats turned it into this 'You gotta get this game or your life won't be complete!' sorta hype. So stop with all this over-hyped BS as you only have yourself to blame if it is!

And as for this issue about they have taken out things out such as planes and parachutes, well for me personally, just the addition of Euphoria to the engine more than makes up for the loss of those little features (that don't really fit into R*'s new direction with this game anyway which is a more cinematic experience. Their making the GTA they wanted to make years ago but didn't have the technology to do it, but they do now). Never mind the god knows how many other additions they have added to the game that isn't in San An, so those little insignificant features that are missing don't bother me at all, remember GTA is growing up now happy.gif

Also to the fella that has only seen a video of the game in action, and anyone else that has only seen a video for that matter, you can't judge it on a video alone. You have to play it yourself and I'd go as far to say you can't really judge the game untill you have done it 100% really becasue you havn't experienced everything yet (and even at 100% you more than likely still have't done everything tounge.gif ). So play the game, if you still don't like it then? Fair enough, thats your opinion and knowone on this planet has the right to say your wrong, but that doesn't mean they have to agree (like I think Halo's a load of over-rated crap, millions disagree, i'm cool with that).

To sumarise this painfull but sexy long post I'll just remind you lot that R* always go out of their way to make our £40/$60 go as far as possible as their aware that games are expensive. And so far I have never bought a game thats lasted as long as a GTA (well, maybe pokemon?!), hell I still go on GTA Vice City today and I got that early 2003.

I totally agree. On all of the accounts.

And as to the Vice City I think I like it the best screenplay-wise. I like GTA III because it reminds me of the times I played with my friends. San Andreas made an impression on me by it's size and possibilities.

But I have no doubt that the GTA IV will be the best in the series.

Ps: I wouldn't have anything against parachutes though ;-)

Wow, there's a lot of sandy vaginas in here.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, so why are people getting so offended by someone who's disappointed by the game?

Having said that, I wouldn't post this in the GTA4 section, I would have posted in the GTA:SA section.

Oh and to the kid who said R* f*cked up, NO they didn't, they just didn't do everything YOU wanted.

I personally can't wait to throw bricks at people, mess around with the aming and cover systems, blast over Brocker (sp?) Bridge in a fast car, whatever. P;lus the new relationship stuff sounds great. You do get some REAL benefits from them.

Algonquin Assassin

Come to think about it, why the complaint about no open areas anyway?

It's a metropolis FFS. Where will there be open areas? The open areas in SA got boring, because NOTHING!!!! happened in them.

Remember the large open area of Flint County? It was all well and good that it was open, but it was boring as sh*t, because nothing happened there.

If there were open areas like in SA, people would complain that R* left too much unused space.

[-Vice-Andreas-]

I agree to an extent. Parachutes were sort of realistic but in a sense just a "toy". Freefalling will be just as satisfying.

As for the claustraphobia, I definately agree. I had the same feel playing Saints Row, and get it even when I play Vice City these days. After a while of driving around the city, all the busy traffic, and slightly repetitive scenery (building after building after building, and a 'burger shot' every couple of blocks), the game may get a little on the claustraphobic side and I'll end up feeling as though I want to break out into the wilderness and escape all the rat race.

But I think they purposely left out these things as an excuse to make a sequel(s). It's a pretty lazy way to leave some room for improvement I guess. Sad, but you know its true. I would have liked to seen the good elements of San Andreas (freedom, countryside etc NO getting fat) revamped with some new ideas that would have made a totally different turn for GTA.
