Unique Jump Question

I have a question about a unique jump. It's the one that I've circled on the map below, apparently you have to get onto the roof and hit the ramp at the end of it. The problem is, I don't know how to access the roof. I can see stairs, but they're on the other side of a gate that won't open. Will that gate open at some point in the game? Or is there another way of accessing the roof? I've only done about three storyline missions btw.

During the mission The Audition you end up on a rooftop adjacent to the one you need to start on. It's near the full moon billboard.

 

You need to be on the rooftop of the Civil Asset Forfeiture Impound building. The PCJ 600 is preferable for this, start on the south end of the rooftop and be sure to lean forward as you accelerate. You must clear the following building and land in the grass behind Marty's loan shark business.

Yes, but how do I gain access to the roof? Like I said there's a gate blocking the stairs.

I do believe completing the mission I mentioned (The Audition) removes the gate blocking the way.

You access the roof by completing jump #3

After that jump, you're there!

Actually, On the PS2 version, (not sure about the PSP version), The gates are never removed. To do that jump, you have to follow the same path you did on the mission "The Audition" and when on the second roof, jump the ramp on that roof (that's the unique jump ramp).-although that is a little bit hard to hit the spot to where you get credit for it-I had a hard time nailing that one. Make sure you use a PCJ-600 for that jump, and tap the "L3" button up a little bit-just enough to lean forward, not stand up on the bike and you should nail it fairly simple-depending on how well you are with a controller. Hope this helps.

 

btw, after you hit the ramp, it helps to push L3 up and back to adjust your weight on the bike so you don't fall off the bike and/or land short of the "sweet" spot.
