-T.K-
Stock scarce as pre-orders reach record-breaking levels Anticipation for Grand Theft Auto IV has reached an all-time high as Sony and Microsoft battle it out to become the console of choice for GTA fans Certain retailers have been offering free Xbox Live points and Xbox Live membership in promotion of the 360 version of the game, whereas Sony is set to announce a special GTA IV PS3 bundle. However, retail opinion is divided over which format will emerge victorious. “Both titles have generated great interest on the Asda website, with strong pre-orders, and the PS3 version is selling three times that of 360, which is surprising and not in line with what we’d expect,” said Asda’s head of games Duncan Cross. Comet’s games buyer Debbie O’Neill also feels the PS3 will benefit most from GTA’s release on April 29th. “We have great expectations and believe it is going to be a massive hardware driver – especially on PS3.” However, HMV’s Tim Ellis has seen more interest for the 360 version: “Demand for both formats is high, but our 1,000 Xbox points offer generated a huge amount of interest.” Many retailers have sold out of their initial allocation already – even the High Street’s biggest specialist GAME has struggled to cope with demand: “As expected, there is huge anticipation for GTA IV and we are working closely with Take Two to serve as many customers as possible,” said a GAME spokesperson. “Given the demand, we are unable to guarantee customers who order a copy will receive the title on launch day.” Source: Here

sladek
I say if you can't get a preorder the best way to get it is to wait outside the game shop or super market or where-ever, first thing in the morning. Lots of places should have it, it's just a case of getting there first

YakDung
Given xbox preorders are no longer available on many websites, using one retailer skews the figures just a little But seriously, who actually gives a crap? Both copies will sell millions, both user groups will have plenty of people to play multiplayer with.

V1ce C1ty
Why are people getting angry anyway over this, I only have a 360 but who cares what console gets more sales. Same game different console.
Fuzzknuckles
Oh well. Just means there'll be more people missing out on the DLC than getting it. I love my Xbox, but I won't do the fan boy bit as that's for kids. Signatures are dumb anyway.

$tr4nger
I love my Xbox, but I won't do the fan boy bit as that's for kids. That's funny, because I've noticed most of your comments on in this forum wreak of fanboyism.. Unless of course you mean to say your not going to do 'the fanboy bit' from now on? If so I welcome that.

Psych
i guess the question is which shops sells more games, a food store or a games store....hmm toughie Somewhere like Tescos will probably hold just as much stock for GTA as most high street game stores. ScaR^_-
i guess the question is which shops sells more games, a food store or a games store....hmm toughie HMV isn't a games store, just entertainment, and ASDA is a much bigger name than HMV, theyre owned by Wal-Mart for cryin out loud. However, the sample they use to say ps3 is outselling is ridiculous, what about, tesco, play, amazon, game etc etc...

FxE_Silver
I think the PS3 sells more copies of the game because there are only a few good games for the PS3 as it is. Also the PS3 markets their consoles to adults more than children.

In terms of game sales i bet my life upon it hmv sell more games per week then asda do. Have you even seen asdas games section? Its like a chart with each game and thats it, you can't even try them there like other stores. Marks&Spencer/Sainsburys/Tesco are all bigger shops and sell more then Asda.
