Danthethug
Metal Gear Solid 4 has maxed out the Blu Ray disc, when that comes out. How was DVD 9 supposed to accomodate that much data? I suppose multiple discs but i think we are past that... Danthethug
Ummmmm VHS won and was around for ages.... just like blu ray defeated hd dvd Sony was backing BetaMax, JVC was backing VHS. That is what I was hinting at. I did not say BetaMax beat VHS, I just said take a look at that format war and learn from it.

It could be amazing if the game was all 50GB but it will be cut scene after cut scene after cut scene. If you like to watch movies with a little bit of game in the middle that cool; however, I'd rather play game and watch a little pit of movies in the middle. Lord Illicious
Xbox is bringing a Bluray to there new system coming out in a year or 2 so that should be interesting. As for bluray charts we already seen em! Bluray is ok but its slow. Dude. Im a PS3 fanboy but im very experienced, fair and honest in my takes. 1 or 2 years and have it's fanbase expect to fork over more bread again for a new system especially after they made that 50 mill investment? http://www.reuters.com/article/reutersEdge...224707720080313 I doubt a new system will come out for blu-ray support unless more blu-ray sized games keep coming out. Only then would MS might decide to take that big risk like they did with the HD-DVD disaster. They might have money to throw around but it's fans do not. They are still working with their HD-DVD concept with something new called HDi to counter blu-ray. http://www.thisishddvd.com/hdi.aspx Blu-ray charts may lie but blu-ray technology do not and they output what that chart lists. Data transfer rate (data)Data transfer rate (video/audio) 36.0Mbps (1x) 54.0Mbps (1.5x) 11.08Mbps (1x) 10.08Mbps (<1x) Video resolution (max) Video bit rate (max) 1920×1080 (1080p) 40.0Mbps 720×480/720×576 (480i/576i) 9.8Mbps Slow for that type of output but huge buffer size for DVDs. In other words, slower because its reading very huge chunks of data that are much higher in resolution and content but reading faster for it capacity to be able to read faster than a dvd and and with way more data. 5 mins of a blu-reader can install more data than a dvd can. A water pistol could hit you faster than a tidal wave but the tidal wave will deliver way more water at a faster rate.

Slamman
Old line of speculation that is water under the bridge now. The fact is, they had to delay with problems cited with the PS3 over the 360, not releasing that any earlier. BUT the benefit will all enjoy soon enough. The big thing is MS acknowledges they have to embrace a HDD tied to delivery as well to make the needed jump to true Next Gen. What's the point in making the leap from last gen closer (to prior tech specs) and less effective overall?
Jimbo85
You guys all argue about the most mind numbingly boring things!!! For a start, YES 360 out sells PS3... big f*cking deal, that does not mean it is better... But have you thought that it is because the average price of a 360 is about 450 bucks, whereas a PS3 is about 600 bucks... I bought mine for $999 (I know i got ripped, but i bought it because i thought GTA IV was coming out in OCTOBER 07!!). Most of you twats that bought a 360 probably wouldn't even come across that much money in a year and you have some deep seeded hatred for people that could afford one!! I own both and i prefer PS3. The controller is better the graphics are better (I owned Assassins Creed on both and got rid of the 360 version... sh*thouse!!) EVERYTHING IS BETTER ON PS3!!! Don't get me wrong I love 360's but MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE is PS3. Leave us (the people who could afford a PS3) alone... All you sound like is a baby that didn't get their bottle and trying to justify why you didn't just save up for an extra couple of months and buy a REAL console. GET OVER IT!!! some people like PS3's some 360's. I don't like the people that own 360's cos all they whine about is how much better it is than a PS3... PS3 owners KNOW the truth!! Well that would be the reader's rate speed not the disk. Thats why early 2x players use a HDD. No that is the disc speed. Directly from the Blu-Ray website: According to the Blu-ray Disc specification, 1x speed is defined as 36Mbps. However, as BD-ROM movies will require a 54Mbps data transfer rate the minimum speed we're expecting to see is 2x (72Mbps). I am not calling the PS3 a piece of a garbage, or anything near that. I am just debating that Blu-Ray is going to be replaced, very soon, with a way better disc. The same thing happened with the BetaMax and VHS format war, be it both were going at the same time (I think). I'm not even saying the 360 is better than the PS3, I am talking disc format, and solely disc format. As for me suggesting GTA IV be delayed another year to fit it on a possibly better disc than Blu-Ray, I would never want such a thing. If they got GTA IV on a DVD 9, then so be it. However, for GTA V, they will possibly be placing it on a much bigger disc. Edited April 23, 2008 by Danthethug

If you ask me (a 360 owner) the PS3 could very easily trump the 360 if it wasn't for cell processors being very new to everyone. I am not debating consoles, I am debating the formats they use .
