LTE777
We all knwo M$ is in negotiations to adopt Blu Ray technology but i have a sinking feeling that the PS3 version was "held back"a bit due to having to fit all the game info into a DVD. I know compression is differnt per disc platform, but imagine the effect filling 25 gig rather than 9gig would have on the game. Shoudl R* have waited, spent some more time on the game and tried to max out the Blu-Ray disk. Do you think the PS3 version may have suffered due to this? Just a thought. Its all based on specualtion at the moment. Discuss....

Agravice
Yes, I agree whole heartedly, GTAIV should have been delayed until next year minimun so Microsoft can release a new brand of 360's with Blu-Ray and then release GTAIV in Blu-Ray only. I don't see any down side to that strategy.
TruXter
Actually I think sony should have let the 360 version come out first. Because the way kids get with "oh you should have waited for the ps3 version it's better" since we do know that r* will make the later one better, And knowing what all sony is doing right now, it would have all come together at the right time. Oh well. now we wait for pc version only.
NRG 900
Wait for the 34 minute install, I also recommend you update your PSN or you can wait for a few hours before paying online.

Oh well. now we wait for pc version only. But wouldnt that give xbox 360 a far greater competitive edge? having way more consoles sold than ps3, and having 4 odd million head start of sales of the most anticipated game for generation 7? PS3 will have no chance in catching up! Not to mention the sales of Halo 3? Its nto liek R* needs the money urgently, compared to say, melbourne house in australia that need gov loans to survive! hehe!
azndvl
I really dont think R* couldve wasted any more time on this than they have already. Hell, the game was due out last year till they had some issues with the PS3 version, that delay hurt already. T2 right now isnt even in a very great financial position and im pretty sure theyre as eager to see GTA IV get released as the fans are. So yea maybe waiting a year couldve made the game a bit better, but really, after a certain point the game will just feel TOO bloated and drawn out. Think of those sitcoms or TV shows that last years and years, they get pretty dull after the first few seasons to me.
Lord Illicious
Sony tried to convince MS but they refuse to adopt Blu-Ray and will stick with standard DVDs. As for waiting till MS come out with another 360... Well cmon man. What about all thoes dvd 360 out there and their supporters? I dont think MS would like to lose a big piece of the market the way they did with HD-DVDs and expect their fan to invest again into another system. HD-DVD was a huge loss with many supporters left in the dust and i dont think they want to risk returning to that path. Only option i see they can do is go HDD gaming which would even or surpass the competition. Would be a lil more expensive but would work. As for waiting another year wouldnt be long enough.. eh but still ide wait if it would make the game bigger and better. The thing that really gets me so puzzled is how did RS manage to fit this game on a dvd9? Its not more expansive that gtasa but have (or should) way more depth. This 25gb looking game on a dvd9 is killing me with curiosity on how they pulled it off.

azndvl
They probably fit it in since GTA has never been big on the graphics. The city may be big, but id bet a lot of the same textures are used and repeated all over the place, saving a lot of space. I wouldnt be surprised if the audio took up the majority of the disc lol. EDIT: flatface, quit the fanboy BS, really man. If you do wanna start on that though, remember the PS3 was supposedly the reason why the game got delayed last year. GloRy
Well theres no complaining or arguing. There both coming out at the same time and guess what? The 360 is most likely gonna sell more units so what is that telling you? People don't care for Bluray that much. I really don't want Xbox to go bluray because its gonna be slower but I guess itll make the games bigger/better. But id rather see Xbox just keep it the way it is. Theres no way GTA IV should of waited another year! Why would you want that?

SAVILLAIN
lets be honest here folks we all know that if the game was made with the blue ray in mind it would have a ton of more stuff in it since it could hold way more content

Its still pretty new so you can't expect everyone to buy a PS3 lMAO. Xbox is bringing a Bluray to there new system coming out in a year or 2 so that should be interesting. This is due to the fact that they are completely different than a CPU in say the 360. Also, if you think Blu-Ray is going to last much longer (which I doubt), take a look at the format war between VHS and BetaMax tapes in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
