[-Vice-Andreas-]
Hi guys, Just need a little help here. I think I tried this a while ago, but had no luck assuming my tv was not high definition. But I just did a google search on the model (don't have the manuals, was given by sister). My tv is a Panasonic 76cm 16:9 Widescreen... and the top left corner says "Tau Giga 100hz". A quick google search suggests it is indeed HDTV, 1080p or something. The blue/green/red ports are on the back of the TV, I have the correct cables... but how do I set it up exactly? I don't know why it didn't work last time... maybe I plugged into the wrong ports, or is there a setting I have to change or what? Any help would be great thanks once again: Panasonic Tau Giga 100hz, Widescreen + flat screen. Edited April 23, 2008 by [-Vice-Andreas-]
Kroven
try switching the switch on your 360's cord to hd, that is probably what is wrong. If that doesn't work make sure that you don't have the yellow cord plugged in (one of my buddies actually did that and I had to go over to his house just to take it out heh heh) Hope that might help
[-Vice-Andreas-]
Well I put the Green/Blue/Red into the Component on AV4 channel, and the white and red into the audio. It works! but when I try to change the setting in the Xbox 360 dashboard display settings, it is set as 480p... if I try to choose a different setting (eg 1080p) the TV flickers around a bit and reverts the setting back to 480p automatically. But according to the webpages I found on my TV... the TV supports up to 1080p... so why is Xbox 360 not letting me select this? Why does the TV flicker when I choose? Either the webpages are lying, or there is a button or setting I have to change on my TV right?

Kroven
no, your tv may not have full 1080p support, as there can be many different models that look like the same tv, but have different resolutions. Try another setting like 720p, this should work. (or 1080i if 360 has that setting... i forget) And you don't have to plug in the yellow cord, as video just goes through the green/blue/red cables, and the yellow cable becomes useless (unless you plan on gaming in standard def)
[-Vice-Andreas-]
Hmm weird, I've tried all the settings, they all revert to 480p. I do notice a difference but, a little sharper picture, better colour etc
Kroven
well from what I found on your tv, it's only 1080i, and what I've described should work. You may have to set your tv up somehow for it to be compatible. Not sure if it would help, but looking at the user manual, you might have to mess with the scan mode setting in the tv menu. I really don't know beyond that though... sorry
joker249
If you're running components, you can only get 1080i. HDMI is needed for 1080p. Honestly, you can't really tell the difference anyway.
EL BENSON
on the component cable, look at the end you plug into your xbox, there should be a small switch that will switch it from SD to HD. you must do this when your console is off though. Then find the thing on xbox dash board and switch it, you need the hdmi input if you want to make it 1080p, i find 1080i good if you dont have that either way.
