Girish
You might want to try the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer. Also if you have v1, try patching it to v1.01 and run the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode.
offem
Thank you for your reply, but i have already installed the optimizer that didnt do anything and im using V2 of san andreas, i also tried running in windows 98 compatability mode with no luck, ive uninstalled it and installed it at least a dozen times with no luck, funny thing is that it ran fine on this box when i had xp on it but it doesnt seem to like vista although i have read that others with vista run fine, not sure what else to look at, please keep the ideas coming, thanks. Girish
Have you downgraded your game? Do you have any virtual drives?

By virtual drive, I mean a drive similar to a CD-ROM drive created by using a software like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%. The drive is used to mount CD/DVD images. squeakyg
I ran into this problem. This was the solution for me: http://www.gta4.tv/forums/index.php?showtopic=62498 (See post #22) The Securom piracy protection sometimes screws up and doesn't let you run the game. This gta-se.exe replacement file from Securom fixed it for me. Edited April 24, 2008 by squeakyg
