When an image is resized to a lower resolution (such as this pic, and various others), the detail that the "painted" look is meant to imply (due to the loss that occurs when depth-of-field is implemented) is blurred, making it look like a slightly higher than average quality DOF blur. Take a look at any GTA4 image resized to around 640 pixels wide using a bicubic filter and see if it doesn't look a bit better. Also keep in mind that the "painted" effect appears more in the distance than up close as thats where the DOF gets blurrier. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
