I've come to appreciate over time that he's simply a somewhat misguidedly fellow following his own conscience and doing what he thinks is right. Allbeit on the back of a poor understanding of fundamentally flawed behavioral science, In fact he believes so strongly in his cause that he's ended-up almost single-handedly dismantling his own career and personal credibility over it. I think he started off with nobel intentions, but somewhere along the way he started using it to further his own career and now if i'm not mistaken is now disbarred from practicing law in Florida. As soon as poor villages can sustain their own existence they go and and have a bunch of kids; resources once again become stretched and the population dies out of famine and disease until the local population is sustainable at the current level of resources: the subsistence level. Basic economics. Europe went through the same thing since the beginning of recorded time until technological processes began to evolve and allow greater output of resources to be shared at the existing level of input (there's a multiplier effect there): population remaining constant. If the population rises quicker than technology evolves the process of creating resources - society never gets any better off: the rest of the world would be in the same predicament. Western Countries in trade blocks put up embargo-type restrictions on trade of agriculture (their bread and butter) which is all africa has to offer generally. It's the first stage of industrialization. China haven't relied on hand-outs and produce non-skilled items that the world actually can't produce at the same cost. And through it's one-child policy and through law and education has been controlling it's population to the point that resources generated are improving quality of lives and aren't just being spread on more childbirth induced poverty.
