Lump_The_XXII
Ight, So i use to work at Sam Goody's right (before they started merging with FYE) and we use to sell gaming systems, and videogames, alongside CD's and Dvd's. Well I remember my manager telling me to put out a box of CD's which wasnt nothing odd, minus the fact the street date was like a week or more away. so I asked him "why we selling these early?" he told me that another store had broken the street date (Some rival at the time) and we were authorized to push it on the sales store. So here's what im thinking (and kinda praying for)..... If a company breaks street date without T2 authorizing it then naturally other stores will have to or want to sale it too, as to try and not get their pockets raped. I unno, maybe this was a waste of time post (WOTP), but i just was thinking bout it.
Jez261
Breaking a street date is not good for the retailer.. If you piss off a publisher with a big enough release.. (such as GTAIV) you will find your self either with a piss poor allocation of stock for the next release or even worse they will hold off your delivery till AFTER the release date... thus ensuring that you cant f*ck them a second time.. Its probable that some noobtard somewhere will break the embargo and sell the game early.. but most likely it will only be a day early as I doubt stock will actually hit retailers before Monday.. That said we in Australia / New Zealand are in the first time zone to reach 12.01am on the 29/4... we will have the game several hours before many of those here.. Add-man
Dont most retailers sign a agreement with take 2 saying they cant break the street date. I think they can get sued if they do break it.

Sure a small time retailer who is going to shift like 50 copies maximum can get his hands rapped - but guys like Tesco (europes largest retailer, the company with the most buying power in europe) will make Rockstar millions in sales. Pre-orders are your best bet for an early copy.

Yeah I am sure they can be sued and have a law-suit placed on them if they do breach a street date even after signing a document agreeing that they wouldn't. I don't blame Rockstar for doing that tbh, it's their game and they want it to be placed out on the world at the same time, it's their game, their rules. TheTerminatorNY
Places like FYE, GameStop, Best Buy, etc. will not break street date. If you want the game before the street date, you'll have to go to a mom & pop type store. There are tons of them in NYC.

Pretty much all video games, movies, and CD's are released on Tuesday's here in the USA. Since they wanted to do a world-wide release, everybody else is getting on Tuesday, why would you rather have waited until Friday?
