They genrally keep some for people without pre-orders but demand is very high and theres rumours of limited stock so they might not have many left

there is no way in hell every shop is going to be sold out if you go early enough on release day. its hype, they don't only sell to people who pre-order. pre-orders are designed for those who want it delivered or who can't get in early enough to beat a rush. if you get up early enough and walk into a shop on release day (that didn't open at midnight) they'll have a shiny copies all over the place and its a case of picking one up and handing over the monies. they may sell out in alot of places if you go later in the day but there simply isn't enough GTA fans in any given area to sell out every single shop on the first day. somewhere will have copies.

I checked Gamestation and Game today - both would not take pre-orders.

I asked if they had general release stock, they both said no - demand was too high.

I have a pre-order for midnight already, I was just curious. So I called 2 more of each store in the next towns, both said the same thing.....

If you havent pre-ordered in th UK, you will most likely be GTA-less on the 29th.

Maybe Argos will sell a little ahead of 29th? I don't care, but I think it would be kind of funny when you think of Halo 3 release, which was a little ahead the real date, at least for Argos wow.gif

no matter how small your town is it must have a supermarket if it's got the shops mentioned. Tesco, Asda, Morrisons etc are not taking pre-orders so i would say that is your best bet.

BlockBusters where i work in the north east of England is getting 1350 copies of the game, and when i last checked there was 986 pre orders.

Everyone who's pre-order was 100, 200, 300 etc gets a free strategy guide, i was number 4 sad.gif

well, maybe Gamestation and Game are going to sell all their copies via pre-orders but their specialist videogame stores.

i'm still convinced places like some of those listed by the above poster will DEFINITELY have copies to sell on release day. WHSmith's, Woolworth's, Blockbusters, Zavvi's... etc... i'm sure they will have copies for those who get up early enough on the 29th. and not ALL places take pre-orders... i'm pretty sure supermarkets like Asda, Tesco, etc either don't take pre-orders or will have copies just to flog. if you struggle to get it at Game or Gamestation thats not a big surprise but like i said before, somewhere will have copies to sell on release day. i'd say make sure you don't try first places who are either specialist games stores or have been aggressively advertising pre-orders, or if you do make sure your very, very early. but still, every single shop is not going to be sold out by tuesday morning. demand is high but not that high, jesus.

over here in france, Game (scorgame has it's named in France) will only sell the game to those who have preordered, i called them after noticing they closed their pre order online and they told me that it was one of these very rare case when pre ordering matches and almost exceed the amount of game they will receieve

My uncle who works at my nearest Asda says that they don't take pre-orders, but they only get like 30 copies (becaue they're not a dedicated game store or something like that) and being open 24 hours by 10 the que is full (once theres a que of 30 they tell the others not to bother) so places like that are still iffy

I called GAME and they said, without a reserve you won't be getting a copy first day.

If my copy from Amazon isn't delivered on the 29th, I'm gunna pop into town and see if I can find it anywhere.

i have the same attitude. i can visit two WHSmiths, two Woolworths, Tesco, Zavvi, HMV, Blockbuster, Game and Gamestation and all, if need be, before 11am on tuesday morning so i'm convinced i'll pick one up. I'm thinking Game, Gamestation and Blockbuster may have sold out via preorder but everywhere else, well, theres a bloody good chance i'll pick one straight of the shelf and be playing it before breakfast. wondering what all the fuss was about.

and one WHSmith has an out of the way, round the corner and up the stairs game area that is abandoned every time i go there but still has chart games on the shelf. that'll be my second stop after blockbuster, before woolworths and i can't imagine they'll have sold all their copies up there.

trying to reassure myself here, obviously. nervous.gif

Exactly getoverhere. happy.gif Part of the fun for me is finding big games on release day. I have never pre-ordered.

Wouldn't make much difference if you live in a big city/town like me. We have 2 GAME stores and everywhere mentioned above on the same street

i've never pre-ordered either. i picked up GTA:SA from woolworths on the morning of release, i asked about how it was selling and she had no clue what all the fuss was about. i went early after opening and the shop was practically empty. that was in the centre of a medium-large town.
