Matthias King
Has it been said anywhere how big the install for the 360 will be? I'm not out of room on my HDD yet, but I do need to save room for the GTA IV DLC packs and future games like Saint's Row 2 and it's DLC, which has led me to think about an Elite, but that's beside the point. Anyone know the size of the install? From what I understand, allowing it to do the install will help the game run better overall. Thanks for any info. Add-man
0 Minutes, as you don't install games on the 360. I think there is a option on the PS3 to install it
DQ_4944
There wont be an install but there is a long loading screen initial because there trying to do the no loading during gameplay
Lampir
Um it doesn't have one, it doesn't need one, dvd spins at 12x whereas blu-ray spins at 4x, thats why it needs the install, dvd does not. It'll just cache...like all big games(oblivion)
inveni0
Neither console requires an installation.
mubd
Neither console requires an installation. The PS3 requires a 5 minute installation. In other words, THE INSTALL IS MANDATORY FOR THE PS3.

Niko>>>all
Most likely no install, that's what the 7 gigs that you can't use are for, to cache the files automatically.

Matthias King
Thanks for the info guys, that's good to know. I still may get an Elite anyway though for all the DLC, which I would imagine will be pretty damn big.
james_root
we aren't going to wait 5 minutes to install everytime, right?

GTASIX
we aren't going to wait 5 minutes to install everytime, right? No. Thats the point of the install (i would think anyway). One off. Unless you delete the thing off your HDD.
emigrating
Does no install mean more popup, dissappearing cars etc? I hope we have the option to install. No, that's what the CACHE is for. Stuff gets installed onto your harddrive, but it all happens without you noticing. For example, once it's loaded a texture of some sort this is cached on the HD for the next time it's being used. Knight_Yellow
Um it doesn't have one, it doesn't need one, dvd spins at 12x whereas blu-ray spins at 4x, thats why it needs the install, dvd does not. It'll just cache...like all big games(oblivion) Wrong... The xbox 360's DVD drive spinning at 12X collects 16MB/s of information. The PS3's Blu Ray drive spinning at 2X collects 18MB/s of information. Blu ray holds far more information than a DVD and as such it has no need to revolve at the same speed as a DVD to gather the same amount of information. It was the same concept when DVD drives got released and they didnt have to be as fast as CD drives since they held more information. One revolution of a CD holds less information than a DVD. One revolution of a DVD holds less information than a Blu Ray disc. http://www.pctechguide.com/34DVD_DVD-ROM.htm The reason PS3 games sometimes have install periods is because all PS3's come with hard drives and a games performance/strain on the system can be improved with a one time 5 minute install. The 360 on the other hand does not come with a hard drive as standard and as such microsoft do not release games unless they run solely from the DVD on the fly. AlterEqo
i hope theres an option to do it. There is an option to do an install on the 360 if you want to. It will be the same install REQUIRED for the PS3. Probably about 3-4 gigs. That is what it usually is on the PS3. And since the games are identical inspite of what people say the install size will most likely be the same as well.
jimbosimbo43
Wont 3 - 4 gigs take longer than 5 mins, my internet sucks and that would take days on a normal download e.g. a demo

DarkStream
@jimbosimbo43 5-10 mins it quite realistic. Your Internet is not used at all, it justs copys data from the DVD/BluRay onto the HDD, because the HDD is far superior in reading times. It basically reduces popup and the loading times overall.
