Fuzzknuckles
About 3 and a half years - it was started within a month or so of releasing San Andreas. Signatures are dumb anyway.

It's taken them 3 and a half years, as even Lazlow said on O&A.

Fuzzknuckles
About 3 and a half years - it was started within a month or so of releasing San Andreas. Huh how long has the 360 been out Developers get them a long time before they're released, so they would have been working with new consoles long before anyone got one at home. I used to test games and got to use a 360 for the first time about 9-10 months before they were released to the public. I miss that job. Signatures are dumb anyway. Ziggy Jinx
I thought they could of only started making the game when they had the 360 because how can you make a game for the likes of the 360 without having a 360 if ya get me drift. It's not that hard. The Xbox 360 was in development in 2003 under Xenon and all those other names, so Rockstar could easily have been told what they should be expecting back in 2005. Then again, it's not entirely too hard for a developer to move what they have to the next-gen. system.

As I said, developers get them way before the public do. I was playing on them 9-10 months before the main release - they have to have dev-kits available, or there'd be no release games! DrAKeN3D
I read 5 years too.... considering the amount of detail in the game, we can assume that most of it was for building the city !!!

MysteryGamer
I am not surprised the game has been in the works for years Rockstar had to develop the game on 2 completely different platforms which is probably why 200 odd people who were believed to be developing the game were needed. Probably 1 team consisting of 100 people to develop the XBOX 360 build and another 100 employees to develop the Playstation 3 version. I would think the game has been in development since 2005 really because in 2004 Rockstar were likely just planning the game (which usually takes months) but no actual development started until 2005 which is my assumption.
