MIKEYBOYCARDIFF Posted April 21, 2008 Share Posted April 21, 2008 Well, despite having no money at the moment, on about the 9th or 10th of this month I pre-ordered GTA4 from HMV - I looked at a few places first, but unfortunately most had stopped taking pre-orders - HMV also said they weren't going to take anymore either, but said they still had Special Editions left, and were £10 off, down to £60, so I took the plunge and ordered one... Since then I have seen nothing but bad reports on HMV for pre-orders, turning up weeks late etc, just wondered who else on here has ordered from them? And if so, at what point do we start worrying!! They are based in the Channel Islands I think, as play.com are... I've pretty much resounded myself to the fact that I won't get it on release day, specially seeing as they can't just shove it through the door!! Explain why you are asking, so they don't just think your someone trying to get it early. Let them know that you've heard about their pre-order problems. If they don't have it the day before release, then let them know you expect to have it in your hands the next day or you want your money back. At least that way you could try to order it online or something, rather than wait for who knows how long for the next shipment to arrive. I've not ordered from them in the past so can't comment on how good they are for new releases/delivery, but then - It's hardly the end of the world if it doesn't arrive on release date. Decy Posted April 23, 2008 Share Posted April 23, 2008 Ive ordered it from HMV a few days ago..the special edition, theyve just sent me an email sayin theyre tryin as hard as they can to get it to my door on release day..and even put in royal mail special delivery as no extra cost to ensure i get it on the day! They always had the latest releases in-store to pick-up on release day pre-ordered or not. Plus I wouldn't worry about the posting situation. I've been worried about reports that they are crap at sending out for release day, so was really happy to get an email from HMV last night saying that they have upgraded postage to Special Delivery free of charge!!! This means GUARANTEED next day delivery, though it does mean someone needs to be home to sign for it. As I've taken two days off work to play it, that should be fine Cannot frickin wait. I too had the email saying my order had been upgraded to Special Delivery, no sign of a despatch email yet though! Special delivery comes with the postman, right?
