kawasakirider
OK, I know this topic has been ran into the ground but I was just wondering if you guys think that the Aussie/NZ version of GTA IV will be less violent/sexual than the other versions of GTA we have in Australia? If not, I guess I can live with it. Will my fellow Aussies be sucking it up and getting it at 11:59 pm on the 28th or will you be waiting to import? I have no choice but to buy from Australia because I've already paid for it and I couldn't be bothered canceling my pre order.
Gaius
I don't think we'll be missing out on to much content, if u look at the previous gta games there all pretty violent, had drug use, prostitution, that sort of thing and this one should be much the same, trust me its gonna be nothing major, so just be happy ur getting a copy and its not banned completly. I'll be getting mine at 11.59pm in Nz, i was a bit gutted when heard we'd be gettin the censored version then i came to my senses, this game is gonna rock. its still gonna have all the f words, bullet wounds and hookers that u can poke a dirty used herion needle at. kawasakirider
I'm really stoked that it's finally coming out. I've been waiting for this game for so long lol. I got my Xbox back off microsoft last week, it took a 2 week turn around and they not only fixed my RROD problem, they put a new disc drive in AND gave me a 1 month free subscription for XBL gold. I can't wait to be playing this game and then when I've finished, get online with you guys and having a crack at multiplayer. I seriously can't wait till the 28th omg omg. Algonquin Assassin
I have a uncensored version of Vice City, and the changes that were made in the censored version were very small. Pretty much aren't noticeable at all. I pretty much wasted $190 on that. Hmmmmmmmmmm. It never affected core gameplay. I don't see why the censored version of GTA IV will be any different to past censored GTAs. Atleast it didn't end up like Manhunt 2. We should be lucky that we're still getting it the same time as everyone else. Edited April 21, 2008 by Miamivicecity
Aristo_69
Well, considering we still don't know exactly what is cut It puts us in a bit of a precarious position. So long as at least the prostitute function is still there (it was in San Andreas) then I don't really care about whatever else is missing in the cut scenes and whatnot, they're all youtube'able anyway. I've preordered mine from EB Games, I was going to import it from NZ but obviously all that crap happened and then I didn't have time to place a preorder over in the UK. If it is seriously different, I'll probably shell out and import it anyway, or perhaps wait for the PC edition and import that instead. Odds are two weeks after its release nobody's going to really remember whats cut and whats not, cut or uncut this game is going to be utterly f*cking fantastic. Agreed, I got the uncut version of San Andreas when it was first released in Australia. Mine has the prostitutes that get into your car and whatnot, the vice city and GTA 3 that I have, they don't get in and out of your car. Did the censored version of SA still have prostitutes? I thought that was one of the main problems? If it's just a cut scene I won't be to worried about it, because two missions later I would have forgotten the exact details of the cut scene anyway. But if it's something that affects game play, like watered down violence or something, then I will be pretty upset.
Algonquin Assassin
If it's a cutscene, you can just watch it on Youtube anyway. Some sick bastard will probably post up a video of Niko getting a handjob, by one of the prossies.
kawasakirider
I have never played any of the manhunt games. What happened to manhunt 2?

EB have a 7 day return policy, so if i find out by day 4 or 5 we've got heaps of edits, then I'll be returning the game and getting it from overseas. Algonquin Assassin
I have never played any of the manhunt games. What happened to manhunt 2? Well it got banned straight away. I believe it did in the UK aswell, but a censored version is coming out. Manhunt was allowed, but it got banned 6 months ??? after release. I still have my XBOX version of Manhunt. I was thinking to myself that I should order a copy from the UK, but I was wondering where I could get the money from, since I am only 16 and I have already paid for the aussie version. I was going to wait for the foreign version to get here and then give it back to eb, but I was stressing that it wouldn't make it here within the seven day period, so I would be stuck with two copies lol. I forgot I could just test it, if it's sh*t, give it back and THEN order it haha. I had a dream about GTA IV last night. It was pretty scarey. I ran over people but it turned into real life, cops were after me and everything. It's so cool that we have games like GTA IV where we don't have to suffer consequences of real life. Not that I'd like to do it in real life, that's sick. Although it is incredibly fun in GTA
Warnut
American with there ratings put Blood, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Alcohol, Use of Drugs Aus/nz in there ratings Strong violence, Strong coarse language, Drug and sexual references (alcohol would possibly fall under drugs unless of cause no alcohol for niko) prostitutes mean sh*t to me but as for looking at the ratings i think theres more missing in it but why let them in San Andreas and not this one
lucassot
i got a good feeling it might be something to do with alcohol & driving. wasn't it gta3 that had the violence reduced in australia? i had an uncut version & you could shoot heads & limbs etc. but i think none of that was censored in vice city or san andreas. i don't think we need to worry about anything major, the releases of the other two after gta3 have been really minor changes as far as i know & didn't detract gameplay unlike gta3 im going to pre order mine sometime this week at big w or jb, cannot wait! ceedot
I'm getting both. Just ordered my second copy today. The US version should come soon. Got it on Fedex. My mate got rung for the 'midnight launch', where we can get the games from out local store, but I have school so there's no way my parents will let me. It's just we catergorize differently. The Aussie version of SA had medium level violence, and medium level coarse language. I've even seen some movies that have had sex scenes in the rating, and not see one single sex scene in it. It's pretty misleading most of the time. Democrab
Pretty sure its the alcohol, since Australia seems to be cracking down on Drink Driving now.
GTALiberation
http://palgn.com.au/article.php?id=11138 Well it seems everything so far is still in it, and i cant think what else they would of cut apart from that 1 cut scene.
