Here I'm not flip-flopping sides about my stand on the graphics, I'm just trying to provide another picture for people to compare with. This was the picture in question in the other forum that dealt exactly with this issue. That one I was referring to, the others didn't work. Anywho, notice the peds and everything around the window fronts and you can't make the same complaint. In fact, the sheer variety of peds is outstanding!! Another great quote would be - "Don't like it? Don't buy it!" Dude, it's more to do with the ARTISTS' skill, not a balance being struck. ALL games vary due to the people creating them. Slamman Posted April 21, 2008 Share Posted April 21, 2008 For sake of argument, PS3's Uncharted, my fav next gen game of choice is ALL 3D environments, yet, the GTAs will be a mix of 3D and some 2D textured layers. The details of a store front in Uncharted, if there was one, would be blocked by invisible walls one can not advance beyond. This is how they dictate accessibility, but the illusion of a whole world is not broken. Rockstar North have yet to obtain this with their new engine and capabilities but they have a much larger area of accessibility as well, but almost twice as much time was spent MAKING their game. Something to thing about. It will let you down in some respect if you set your hopes to high and blame it on hype. This will circumvent any(or most?) hotlink blocking script. Whenever an image link doesn't work, it's a good idea to try this; especially if you know it's a recently linked-to image that should exist. But what did Mafia offer in terms of side missions and extra things to do other than the main story line? Not a lot. Because they paid more attention to the graphics there was less in terms of varied gameplay. Plus, how often did that game have to load? I believe it was way more frequent than GTA III, and the loads were a lot shorter. A great example would be trying to run both PC versions of the game. My computer can't even play Mafia without a framerate of 2. I can run GTA III and Vice City with no problems at all. San Andreas gives me a few framerate issues, but nothing compared to Mafia. Yeah, I know the game came out way before Vice City and San Andreas, but it still runs horribly on my PC compared to the GTA games, which offer a lot more in terms of gameplay and side missions. This game is going to blow everyones socks of! you will all be playing for months (probably years) to come! Just relax a bit guys, only a few more days to go! I had to set all my graphics settings at max low to get the game to move at some respectable speed and it should be able to with a 1Ghz Pentium Tualatin in fact, and 256MB Ram or so. I don't know what Mafia expects, but I turn to the consoles for this reason as well. I'm sure balance of all the elements is true but no specifically gameplay vs graphics, that is solely a player's (fanboy too) statement Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
