Slamman
Just a little fun fact and I am curious if anyone knows on this as well.. I was at the Goodwill looking at media and electronics there and saw on their shelf of CDs, the Rick Astley CD with the infamous song people latched on to for their spamming replies. I have no idea how that or when, it came to happen for the first time, but I don't recall it in years past, but here's the interesting thing... Both Dan and Sam Houser worked for BMG Music and Interactive and that Rick Astley CD was on BMG. As an aside, my first CD collection ever was built up by joining BMG mail-order CD Buying service. Not sure if that has anything to do with the other, in terms of the Housers and using Rick Rolls... Before this gets locked as I'm sure it might, anyone know for sure?? haha I'm looking for a serious answer, not spam on this. I of course, hate spam and flames. Thanks to Ottae for leaving this open for a bit. I knew it was risky off the bat but related to Rockstar at least. Slamman
The worst one is the one that moves around on screen and CTRL-W doesn't work, so it's hard to deactivate, I had to use Task Manager to stop it! ARGH! The point being I am not sure when or how that video was chosen by SO many people. It would makes sense if it ruined someone's life and they felt like subjecting it on all of us

To be rickrolled is when browsing a website (especially a discussion forum or comment board), one comes across a link expecting it to lead to one thing, but finds something completely different when the link is clicked. The name Rick refers to 80s pop singer Rick Astley. The standard rickroll generally involves someone posting a link claiming it leads to something quite interesting (e.g. hot chicks in panties), but actually linking to a video of Mr. Astley singing "Never Gonna Give You Up." This is usually considered a major let-down.

Creed Bratton
It probably originated from 4chan like everything else. That song is sooo bad, yet so catchy. You could say its a highly contagious virus. You hate it, but when you hear it it wont get out of your head for a while

DemonKing
I've never had the experience of getting a Rick-Roll, and I'm quite Glad.
Land Of Confusion
I believe the rickroll became popularized from a family guy episode, and then spread from 4chan.
