EpicFailGuy
Can there be like huge yellow text like in that mod showroom board that says something like "Do not insult an author of a thread when he has asked a common question, just answer him and move on"? I've been lurking a lot and I'm getting tired of seeing the same old "Will there be planes" thread with like forty replies; none of them answering the question and just all of them being "IM GUNNA FUKN KILL U" posts. Girish
That is not going to help really. Why not just let the mods deal with it?
EpicFailGuy
I find the only way the mods deal with it is by locking the thread, with the question unresolved.
Ottae
That is not going to help really. Why not just let the mods deal with it? Well there are no mods on atm, it's a bit dysfunctional. I agree though, a banner won't do much, these people can't, or ignore to read stuff like that. I normally lock the thread, but sometimes you get a bunch of idiots spamming a perfectly good topic, and I don't want to lock it if a discussion has developed. And as you said, simply locking the thread doesn't solve it, they spread to another topic.
Toadyd
Can there be like huge yellow text like in that mod showroom board that says something like "Do not insult an author of a thread when he has asked a common question, just answer him and move on"? There is already relativley large text saying "Welcome to GTAForums.com. Please take a moment to read these guidelines before posting." the guidelines stating you shouldn't flame/insult people. If a poster lacks total common sense and posts crap like IM GUNA KILL U chances are they are going to pay no attention to an extra line of text. GTA Network Support had a huge line of text saying 'Yes, we know GTAGarage isn't working' but there were still topics made by people saying they couldn't use the site... and thats on a relatively quiet forum with very little activity. Somewhere as active as GTAIV, even if 2 people bother to stick the rules chances are another 8 won't. Locking a topic much easier than deleting 20 idiotic replies and attempting to get the topic running again, and like you said these generally are pretty common questions that the original poster will be able to find an answer to without too much effort. Justin
I find the only way the mods deal with it is by locking the thread, with the question unresolved. We typically warn these idiots which isn't visible to you as member logs are private. Sometimes however it simply isn't practical to warn every member who replied to a thread so we lock it with a generic "shut up" message (i.e. no formal individual warning). avsrule247
The mods should answer the question themselves and then lock the thread. You would have to be a real sh*tty mod to lock a thread that hasn't been answered, even if the question was asked 100 times. If you are going to go to the trouble of locking it, you should answer it, otherwise you are just being an ass.

Why should the mods waste time answering questions which have been answered loads of time before. If you don't like it, leave. It makes you look even worse when you call people who are giving you a free service asses. Edited April 21, 2008 by Vinnie
Girish
There are people who take the time and are kind enough to point out an already existing thread which helps since the OP won't go on making multiple topics for the same issue without knowing why his previous topic was locked in the first place. If not, then it isn't the staff's responsibility to do so. Just use the Search function.
EpicFailGuy
Why should the mods waste time answering questions which have been answered loads of time before. If you don't like it, leave. Then why become a mod? Shouldn't they have known they were going to actually help people out when they agreed to it? Can't this be paralleled to someone becoming a cop and not generally doing anything like helping an old lady cross a street?
Vinnie
They do help, they say use the search function.

Use the god damn search function, the mods have more important things to deal with than answering a question they 1. may not know the answer to and b. when the answer is already accessible. Stop being lazy.
