Except going to jail jacks your weapons, whereas you get to keep them if you go to the hospital.

It's always best to die than get arrested. You keep your weapons that way. Besides, it's way more fun to have a running gun battle with the cops than go down like a p*ssy.

as stated in one of the preview missions where you had to steal a squad car and access the onboard police computer to determine the whereabouts of your target they also mentioned that as the game develops you will be able to use the same computer to look up other people including yourself (Niko) and see what kind of record that person has

If I remember correctly, you have 2 or 3 seconds while Niko has his hands up to decide to break free, which is what you should do. Being taken alive is for wimps.

That sounds lame tbh. When I die in the game, especially on a mission, I just want to get back and go again, not watch lengthy cut scenes.

My money is on small cut-scene while you fall to your knees as the cops handcuff you, fade to black screen with "busted" on screen. Then re-opens you in front of the cop shop sans some cash and weapons.

Dieing or "Wasted" should be harder. I suspect police tackles ragdoll style and cuffing you rather than shotgun to the face. Perhaps tazer guns as well.

I do remember seeing a picture in a mag with a cop at the front desk, and It saying you can bribe at the front desk for 500$ and lose your guns at that point. So I am thinking its either go to jail and be released there, or pay the bribe and lose your guns at the front desk at the station. could be wrong though.
