ajstaylormade Posted April 21, 2008 Share Posted April 21, 2008 I know not many people will find this thread helpful but I have seen a few people on these boards who want to get the guide a few days early to look at the pictures, study the maps, and look at the guns, cars, etc. Heres how i pre-ordered it the other day. I ordered from Amazon and got an extra 5% discount for pre-ordering. That brought the subtotal down to like $12.50. Then, you can also sign up for a one month trial of something called Amazon Prime. Its a free trial that, at the end of it (or even right after you use it for your GTA guide order), you can cancel with no extra charges. It basically gives you free 2 day shipping or next day shipping for 3.99 rather than the astronomical prices they normally charge. So basically I'm getting the strategy guide this coming Friday and I had to pay $12 plus the 3.99 for shipping...not too bad in my opinion (for those of you that dont want to wait until release night to get your hands on the guide. Not a bet for money, just saying I don't think R* wants a Brady guide out on a Friday and people posting all the pics and hints, etc. all over the weekend which would, I think it would at least, kill a lot of the hype. I better though...I had to pay that extra for the overnight shipping...if i wasnt gonna get it til Monday then I might as well have not ordered it from Amazon and just get it from Gamestop when I pick up my game instead. I did the same thing as you, except I got the second day shipping, I think Amazon considers Saturday a business day, I may be wrong. Either way, I will have it here Tuesday, or Monday. Anyone know if Saturday is sometimes considered a business day? Edit: Nevermind, found the following excerpt from Wikipedia on Business Days... As an example, when sending a package with a shipping company such as FedEx, a shipment dispatched on a Thursday that is to be delivered in "two business days" will arrive on the following Monday. ajstaylormade Posted April 21, 2008 Author Share Posted April 21, 2008 Well at first i picked the free 2 day shipping they offered under their special one month thing...but it said in the email I got that i wouldnt get the guide til monday...so i chose one day shipping for 3.99 and now it says ill get it friday. So im guessing that they dont consider saturday a business day...otherwise 2 day shipping would have been fine with me. But i was happy to pay the extra few bucks to get it 3 days earlier.
