Racism and multiplayer

I laugh at racist clans or clans that act like a gang.

 

Because most likely the people are just a bunch of hardcore nerds that got the sh*t beat out of them by people of the group theyre being racist against sometime in their life.

 

Hell, anyone that acts tough online is laughable.

Excellent point. I actually know people who, through no fault of their own (their parents, actually) are still unsure if the holocaust actually happened. They also believe that slavery in the US was, by all accounts, just in a few various townships in Georgia and Alabama. They aren't racists, by any means, but their upbringing and lack of proper education (all dropouts) has crippled their ability to grasp any varied opinions on the matter, be they factual or not.

Good point. So many people aren't racist, they are just so misinformed and uneducated. Its so upsetting.

 

And Florida has some major anti-semitic problems btw. There are a surprising amount of racist and anti-semetic groups in Florida. You'd think more people would know...but it I guess not.

Indeed, opinion and knowledge is usually based solely on upbringing, and experiences in the earlier years. People need to teach their children to learn...I know that sounds funny.

There's plenty of us on these boards, and at least reading this thread that have engaged in behavior with the intent of pissing someone else off over the internet.

 

My friend's PSN account is "ih8j00s" or something like that, and he gets comments on it all the time. He's not a racist, he only does it to stir up sh!t from other people.

 

The whole point of it is to get people like you all worked up about it. Every time someone like you goes "OMFGGGGeee you're a racismist oh man you suxs" you've given someone the attention they were looking for, and you've lost.

 

Ignore them. Just ignore them. Beat them if you can, don't complain if you can't. Treat them like everyone else, and they'll stop.

Often times people online will be racist because they think it's funny or that's what's excpected of them to say and others truly are just racist

 

Easy solution just tell them it's not ok and ask them why they feel that way

 

Of course they'll usually swear at you or insult you for trying to reason

That's very true, but I've lived here my entire life (37 years...old f*cker) and most of the "rednecks" I've run into weren't racist, but suffered from a lack of education. And truly, most of them just want to be left alone. I remember driving a guy home from work one time because his car had died and when we pulled up to the house, someone had written with a sharpie marker on his wifes car - "F*ck off, redneck", only because she had a Hank Williams sticker on her bumper with cowboy boots on it. Intolerance goes so many ways.

No kidding, right? I grew up with that in the 70's and I still remember applying it to my schoolwork. Really did wonders. Hehe

Anyone else have a feeling that 'gangs' (clans) will begin to appear in multiplayer, which will ultimately be a racist group? With the feature of a fully customizable character im sure there will be a plethora of clothing choices that will represent the group.

"Education" doesn't cure racism. Most educated people are probably just as racist, just that they can afford to leave. Ever hear of "white flight". If people were not racist, our schools and neighborhoods would all be perfectly proportioned racially.

 

Racism is part and parcel of the human make-up, I think. I don't there is a "cure" anymore than there is a cure to get dogs to meow. People are animals and have animal instincts, but curbed through higher intelligence than other animals. Something a lot of us forget. Butnext time you take a poop or bite into a steak with blood dripping down your face, and you see a dog doing the same thing, then ask yourself "Am I really THAT much more advanced?"

 

I think it's just that a lot of you people on here are young and naive. Trust me, when you get older you will see that people never change. You can hope all you want that racism goes away, but it won't.

If there are racist gangs, I'm sure they won't last long. I'm sure they'll be groups of black characters, white characters, Irish characters & whatnot. It happens in real life. But it shouldn't & won't be tolerated in a virtual world, where control is just a button away.

Omg theres alot of wannabe irish people on isnt there? The protestants were the prominant group in the north. They did not surrender, or "join with the british" . It was far better for them to be governed by a british protestant government, where as the prominancy of the roman catholic church in southern Ireland created a situation where irish nationalists became interested in the idea of home rule. Religios tensions of course, often boiled into violence, and war.

 

Relegion, to be honest, is the cause of much needless violence.
